Serum prealbumin levels in alpha1-antitrypsin deficiency (PiZ)
Metabolism, 1982The relationship between low serum prealbumin levels and alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency (PiZ) was investigated. Pi typing was done by acid starch gel electrophoresis followed by crossed antigen-antibody electrophoresis and/or immunofixation. Serum prealbumin levels were determined by radial immunodiffusion.

Prealbumin and Immunoglobulin in Serum and Cerebrospinal Fluid in Familial Amyloid Polyneuropathy
European Neurology, 2008Prealbumin, immunoglobulin G, A, and M concentrations in serum and cerebrospinal fluid from patients with familial amyloid polyneuropathy (Japanese type) were determined and compared with those of asymptomatic relatives or controls. Prealbumin concentrations were not significantly different between them.

Association of serum albumin with tear prealbumin in human ocular mucus
Current Eye Research, 1988Tear prealbumin previously isolated from the saline-extractable human ocular mucus was further examined for microheterogeneities using crossed-immunoelectrophoresis through development with antiserum to the isolate. The isolate was examined following the final two stages of its chromatographic purification by DEAE ion exchange and Sephadex G-75.

Variations of the prealbumin in serum and urine of mice, according to strain and sex
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology, 1968Abstract 1. 1. By electrophoresis of mouse serum proteins on starch or acrylamide gels, four fractions migrate as prealbumins. 2. 2. These fractions are strain and sex dependent and their concentrations are directly influenced by testosterone. 3. 3.

[Serum prealbumin standards in the neonatal period].
Minerva pediatrica, 1989Serum prealbumin standards for the first and sixth days of life have been determined by immunoprecipitation ascertained with kinetic nephelometry in two samples of healthy newborns, born at term and of normal weight.

Concentration of Serum Prealbumin and Retinol-Binding Proteins During Pregnancy
Southern Medical Journal, 1984Concentrations of the rapid-turnover plasma proteins prealbumin and retinol-binding protein are measured in nonpregnant subjects to detect subclinical malnutrition. In this study, blood samples were taken from 30 normal pregnant women to establish normative data on the concentrations of these two plasma proteins during pregnancy.

Metabolism and Clinical Interest of Serum Transthyretin (Prealbumin) in Dialysis Patients
Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine, 2002Chronic renal failure is responsible for an increase in serum concentrations of transthyretin. Elevated serum transthyretin during renal insufficiency is secondary to the lack of retinol-binding protein degradation in renal tubules and to the subsequent increase in the fraction of transthyretin bound to retinol-binding protein. In both hemodialysis and
