[Prostatic specific antigen in the serum in prostatic cancer].

Hinyokika kiyo. Acta urologica Japonica, 1988
Prostatic specific antigen (PA) level was determined with a Wako test kit (Japan) for prostatic cancer and others. The incidence of abnormal values of PA in untreated prostatic cancer, was 50, 50, 80, and 100% for stage A1, C (pN0, NX), D1 and D2 cancers, respectively. Grade was not related to the level of PA.

Ejaculation increases the serum prostate-specific antigen concentration

Urology, 1996
To determine the effect of ejaculation on the serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) concentration in men at risk for developing prostate cancer.A prospective, community-based study was conducted in which 64 men, aged 49 to 79 years, underwent a serum PSA determination immediately before ejaculation (baseline) and at 1 hour, 6 hours, and 24 hours ...

Screening for prostate cancer with serum prostate‐specific antigen

Cancer, 2008
Nguyen et al compared the cancer recurrence‐free survival after radical prostatectomy among 2 groups of men diagnosed with prostate cancer due to an elevated serum prostate‐specific antigen (PSA): 1) those whose initial screening PSA was abnormal and 2) those with a history of previous normal screening PSAs. The study found group 1 to have more adverse

Effect of Statins on Serum Prostate-specific Antigen Levels

Urology, 2010
The use of statins, which are cholesterol-lowering drugs, has increased significantly during the last decade. In this study, we investigate the effect of statins on serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels in men participating in a prostate cancer screening event.A cohort of 4903 men who participated in Prostate Cancer Awareness Week in the years ...

Influence of Serum Proteins on Conformation of Prostate-Specific Antigen

Journal of Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics, 2012
Partition behavior of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) was studied in aqueous Dextran-Ficoll two-phase system. It was found that the partitioning of PSA changed in the presence of other proteins, in particular, bovine serum albumin, human serum albumin, human transferrin, and human gamma-globulin.

The Influence of Ejaculation on Serum Levels of Prostate Specific Antigen

The Journal of Urology, 1997
While prostatic manipulation and surgery have been shown to increase serum prostate specific antigen (PSA), the influence of ejaculation on serum PSA remains controversial. We examined the effect of ejaculation on serum PSA levels. We evaluated 100 men 25 to 35 years old with no history of surgery or inflammatory disease of the urogenital tract.

[Prostate specific antigen in serum of the patients with prostatic cancer].

Hinyokika kiyo. Acta urologica Japonica, 1988
The serum prostate specific antigen (PA) was determined with the Diagnostic Products Cooperation (DPC) PSA double antibody radioimmunoassay kit. The upper limit of the normal range was set at 4 ng/ml which was the mean + 3S.D. for males over 50 years old in a mass examination.

A guide to the interpretation of serum prostate specific antigen levels

Clinical Biochemistry, 1995
To review the factors that affect the concentration of prostate specific antigen (PSA) in the serum. The discussion includes the structure of PSA; its distribution and metabolism; various analytical aspects of PSA measurements; the effects of clinical manipulations on PSA, including digital rectal examination, transrectal ultrasound, cystoscopy, biopsy ...
