Service Availability of Systems with Failure Prevention

2008 IEEE Asia-Pacific Services Computing Conference, 2008
In this paper we present a queueing model for service availability formulated as a Petri net. We define a metric for service availability and show how it can be estimated from the model. Assuming that a failure avoidance mechanism is present, we analyze the distribution of time-to-failure.

Heart failure services

2014
Abstract The management of HF due to systolic dysfunction is underpinned by one of the strongest evidence bases in medicine. Following large randomized drug treatment trials of ACE inhibitors and B-adrenoreceptor antagonists published in the late 1980s and early 1990s, numerous guidelines have been written. Despite this, registry data

An SNMP based failure detection service

2006 25th IEEE Symposium on Reliable Distributed Systems (SRDS'06), 2006
In this paper, we present the SNMP-FD service, a novel failure detection service entirely based on the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). This approach promises better interoperability with external tools and failure information sources, including network equipment and cluster management tools. We first show how the SNMP standard can be used to

Timing Failures Detection in Web Services

2008 IEEE Asia-Pacific Services Computing Conference, 2008
Current business critical environments increasingly rely on SOA standards to execute business operations. These operations are frequently based on Web service compositions that use several Web services over the internet and have to fulfill specific timing constraints.

Clinical service organisation for heart failure

Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2012
Chronic heart failure (CHF) is a serious, common condition associated with frequent hospitalisation. Several different disease management interventions (clinical service organisation interventions) for patients with CHF have been proposed. To update the previously published review which assessed the effectiveness of disease management interventions for ...

Communication failure in home-help service

CHI '01 extended abstracts on Human factors in computer systems - CHI '01, 2001
This paper presents the preliminary results from an ongoing research project with the purpose to explore possible ways of using and benefiting from mobile technology for home-help service. It is based upon a field study of three Swedish home-help service units. The project aims at an understanding of the work practices of the home-help service.

Heart failure services

Abstract The management of chronic HF is underpinned by one of the strongest evidence bases in medicine. Following large randomized controlled drug treatment trials from the late 1980s and early 1990s, numerous guidelines outlining the pharmacological treatment of heart failure have been written (ESC, ACC/AHA, NHFA/CSANZ, SIGN, and ...

Predicting Timing Failures in Web Services

2009
Web services are increasingly being used in business critical environments, enabling uniform access to services provided by distinct parties. In these environments, an operation that does not execute on due time may be completely useless, which may result in service abandonment, and reputation or monetary losses.
