Online Parallelized Service Function Chain Orchestration in Data Center Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In recent years, much attention has been focused on deploying service function chains (SFCs), each of which is composed of a set of virtual network functions (VNFs) in a specified order.

Single-Server Queueing System with Markov-Modulated Arrivals and Service Times [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Key words: Markov-modulated queues, waiting time, heavy traffic.Markov-modulated queueing systems are those in which the input process or service mechanism is influenced by an underlying Markov chain.

Joint Energy Efficient and QoS-aware Path Allocation and VNF Placement for Service Function Chaining

open access: yes, 2018
Service Function Chaining (SFC) allows the forwarding of a traffic flow along a chain of Virtual Network Functions (VNFs, e.g., IDS, firewall, and NAT).

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Availability and Reliability of Service Function Chain: A Quantitative Evaluation View

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems, 2023
Service function chain (SFC) based on network function virtualization (NFV) technology can handle network traffic flexibly and efficiently. The virtual network function (VNF), as the core function unit of SFC, can experience software aging, which reduces

Container-based network function virtualization for software-defined networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Today's enterprise networks almost ubiquitously deploy middlebox services to improve in-network security and performance. Although virtualization of middleboxes attracts a significant attention, studies show that such implementations are still ...

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Service Chain (SC) Mapping with Multiple SC Instances in a Wide Area Network

open access: yes, 2017
Network Function Virtualization (NFV) aims to simplify deployment of network services by running Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) on commercial off-the-shelf servers.

Energy-Efficient Service Function Chain Provisioning [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Notes in Discrete Mathematics, 2018
Network Function Virtualization (NFV) is a promising network architecture concept to reduce operational costs. In legacy networks, network functions, such as firewall or TCP optimization, are performed by specific hardware. In networks enabling NFV coupled with the Software Defined Network (SDN) paradigm, network functions can be implemented ...

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...
