Service function chaining with segment routing

open access: yes, 2016
This Master Thesis covers multiple aspects for implementing Service Function Chaining (SFC) with Segment Routing (SR). As a great majority of networks perform a hop-by-hop routing based on a routing protocol without any path-control, Segment Routing has ...

Virtual Network Function Placement for Service Chaining by Relaxing Visit Order and Non-Loop Constraints

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Network Function Virtualization (NFV) is a paradigm that virtualizes traditional network functions and instantiates Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) as software instances separate from hardware appliances.

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Joint Energy Efficient and QoS-Aware Path Allocation and VNF Placement for Service Function Chaining

open access: yes, 2019
Service function chaining (SFC) allows the forwarding of traffic flows along a chain of virtual network functions (VNFs). Software defined networking (SDN) solutions can be used to support SFC to reduce both the management complexity and the operational ...

Relationship Between Neurologic Symptoms and Signs and FMR1 Genotype in Premutation Carriers

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Fragile X‐associated Tremor/Ataxia Syndrome (FXTAS) is the most severe late‐onset condition caused by a premutation in the FMR1 gene, characterized by expanded CGG triplet repeats of 55–200. Clinical presentations of FXTAS, including gait ataxia, kinetic tremor, cognitive decline, and rare Parkinsonism, are linked to ...

Probabilistic Service Function Placement and Dynamic Service Function Chain Formation

open access: yesIEEE Access
Traditional network service frameworks face significant challenges to accommodate the exponential growth in user traffic. Instead of leveraging proprietary, monolithic hardware appliances, and network functions that power up-to-day telecommunications, Virtualization will be the rightful enabling technology.
