Relational Service Composition
2009 IEEE International Conference on Semantic Computing, 2009Although the service composition problem has been widely addressed, automatically composing a service from existing services is still very difficult. This paper focuses on the composition problem for relational web services. It considers answering complex queries using a set of available relational services collectively.

A geographical information system (GIS) is a system that captures, analyzes, and manages any spatially referenced data. One common problem in the GIS community is how to generate and publish customized Web maps. The existing solutions either deal with spatial data directly which does not allow for applying the customized features, or require and rely ...

Composition of component services
Seventh IEEE International Symposium onObject-Oriented Real-Time Distributed Computing, 2004. Proceedings., 2004We consider a component to be an encapsulated hardware-software unit that can be used as a building block in the construction of a larger system and that delivers a specified service across a component interface. The problem of composition of a set of components can be broken down into the following two subproblems, the composition of the component ...

Both the agent and Grid communities develop concepts for distributed computing, however they do so with different motivations. This paper demonstrates how the flexible coordination technique of interaction protocols, from the field of multiagent communication, can be used to model the processes found in scientific workflow, a typical composition ...

"Service Hyperlink" for Exploratory Service Composition
IEEE International Conference on e-Business Engineering (ICEBE'07), 2007Service orchestration logics can be difficult to be totally pre-fabricated as composite services when facing uncertain requirements. It is sometimes indispensable to get end users involved. However, we should not expect end users do programming as computer professionals.

Middleware services for web service compositions
Special interest tracks and posters of the 14th international conference on World Wide Web - WWW '05, 2005WS-* specifications cover a variety of issues ranging from security and reliability to transaction support in web services. However, these specifications do not address web service compositions. On the other hand, BPEL as the future standard web service composition language allows the specification of the functional part of the composition as a ...

Service composition for generic service graphs
Multimedia Systems, 2006Service composition is a promising approach to multimedia service provisioning, due to its ability to dynamically produce new multimedia content, and to customize the content for individual client devices. Previous research work has addressed various aspects of service composition such as composibility, QoS-awareness, and load balancing.

Planning and verifying service composition [PDF]
A static approach is proposed to study secure composition of services. We extend the λ-calculus with primitives for selecting and invoking services that respect given security requirements. Security-critical code is enclosed in policy framings with a possibly nested, local scope. Policy framings enforce safety and liveness properties.

Security Policy Composition for Composite Services
2008 Eighth International Conference on Web Engineering, 2008An application based Service-Oriented Architecture(SOA) consists of an assembly of external services and the application is called as a composite service. Acomposite service could be implemented by other composite services hence the application could have a recursive structure, which is one of the features of SOA application.

Identifying Optimal Composite Services by Decomposing the Service Composition Problem
2011 IEEE International Conference on Web Services, 2011For a Web service composition to satisfy a user's needs, it must not only provide the desired functionality, but also have nonfunctional properties (e.g., reliability, availability, cost) that are acceptable to the user. In the recent past, several techniques have been developed and deployed to identify a composite service that conforms to the ...
