Endemik türler, yeryüzünün yalnızca belirli bölgelerinde yayılış gösteren yerel ve ender canlılardır. Düzce ili, otsu ve odunsu endemik bitkiler yönünden oldukça zengin bir floristik yapıya sahiptir. Bazı türlerin ise nesli tükenmekte olduğundan Düzce ve çevresinde endemik olan bitki türlerinin sürdürülebilirliğini sağlamak önem arz etmektedir.
