Sesquiterpene lactone stereochemistry influences herbivore resistance and plant fitness in the field.

open access: yesAnnals of Botany, 2014
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Stereochemical variation is widely known to influence the bioactivity of compounds in the context of pharmacology and pesticide science, but our understanding of its importance in mediating plant-herbivore interactions is limited ...

Characterization and functional reconstruction of a highly productive germacrene A synthase from Liriodendron chinense

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 23, Issue 6, Page 1927-1937, June 2025.
Germacrene A Synthase (LcTPS3) from Liriodendron was characterized. The biosynthesis of germacrene A was achieved in a yeast chassis, and the catalytic mechanism of LcTPS3 was further elucidated. Summary Plants produce a large array of natural products which play important roles in flavours, fragrances and medicines.

The Effect of Chitosan Edible Coating Containing Nanoemulsion of Eryngium campestre Essential Oil on the Quality of Ostrich Meat During Storage in Refrigerator

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 13, Issue 5, May 2025.
Ostrich meat samples coated with chitosan containing nanoemulsion of Eryngium campestre essential oil had lower free fatty acid, peroxide value, and total volatile bases and also lower microbial count. Chitosan coatings incorporated with 2.5% and 5% nanoemulsion of Eryngium campestre essential oil decreased the drip loss and increased the texture ...

Biodegradation of 2-ethylhexyl nitrate (2-EHN) by Mycobacterium austroafricanum IFP 2173 [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology 74 (2008) 6187-6193, 2009
2-Ethyhexyl nitrate (2-EHN) is a major additive of fuel which is used to comply with the cetane number of diesel. Because of its wide use and possible accidental release, 2-EHN is a potential pollutant of the environment. In this study, Mycobacterium austroafricanum IFP 2173 was selected among several strains as the best 2-EHN degrader.

NLRP3 Inflammasome in Vascular Dementia: Regulatory Mechanisms, Functions, and Therapeutic Implications: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 31, Issue 5, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Vascular dementia, the second most common type of dementia globally after Alzheimer's disease, is associated with neuroinflammation. Activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome, an important pattern recognition receptor in human innate immunity, plays a key role in the pathogenesis of vascular dementia.

Allergens Responsible for Contact Allergy in Children From 2010 to 2024: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesContact Dermatitis, Volume 92, Issue 5, Page 327-343, May 2025.
Meta‐analysis identifies key allergens responsible for contact allergy in children, highlighting common allergens and guiding a baseline series in children and prevention strategies. ABSTRACT Contact allergy (CA) is a frequent condition in children; however, newer estimates of the prevalence of CA in children are lacking.

4,5-Seco-Guaiane and a Nine-Membered Sesquiterpene Lactone from Holostylis reniformis

open access: yesMolecules, 2012
Root extracts of Holostylis reniformis (Aristolochiaceae) yielded three new natural sesquiterpenes, a sesquiterpene with an unusual carbon skeleton, 4,5-seco-guaiane (7-epi-11-hydroxychabrolidione A, 1), a nine-membered lactone with new carbon skeleton ...

Quorum sensing inhibitory compounds from extremophilic microorganisms isolated from a hypersaline cyanobacterial mat [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
In this study extremely halophilic and moderately thermophilic microorganisms from a hypersaline microbial mat were screened for their ability to produce antibacterial, antidiatom, antialgal and quorum sensing (QS) inhibitory compounds. Five bacterial strains belonging to the genera Marinobacter and Halomonas and one archaeal strain belonging to the ...

Long‐Term Observations on the European Photopatch Test Baseline Series (EPTBS) in Real Clinical Practice: 11 Years of Results in a Spanish Cohort and Suggestions for an EPTBS Update

open access: yesContact Dermatitis, Volume 92, Issue 4, Page 277-282, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Background The European Photopatch Testing Baseline Series (EPTBS) was published in 2013. However, limited data exist regarding the real‐world clinical application of the EPTBS. Objectives This study aims to describe the photopatch test experience with the EPTBS over 11 years at a tertiary hospital in Spain.
