Sesquiterpene Lactones as Allelochemicals

Six new sesquiterpene lactones, annuolide H (3), helivypolides F, H-J (4, 11-13), and helieudesmanolide A (6), together with known compounds, were isolated from polar bioactive fractions of Helianthus annuus cv. SH-222 and Stella fresh leaf water extracts.

Eremophilane Sesquiterpenes from Capsidiol

A series of eremophilane sesquiterpene alcohols and hydrocarbons was prepared from the phytoalexin capsidiol (1) for mechanistic studies with epiaristolochene synthase and epiaristolochene dihydroxylase. Among them, 3-deoxycapsidiol (10) was obtained through selective derivatization and reductive cleavage of the equatorial 3 alpha hydroxyl group.

Anti-inflammatory sesquiterpenes and sesquiterpene dimers fromChloranthus fortunei

A novel lindenane sesquiterpene with an unprecedented 18-membered triester ring, named chlorafortulide (1), along with one known lindenane sesquiterpene (2) and nine known lindenane sesquiterpene dimers (3-11), was isolated from the whole plant of Chloranthus fortunei.

Sesquiterpene esters sesquiterpene-coumarin ethers from Ferula jaeskeana

Abstract Five new sesquiterpene esters, together with the known esters of jaeskeanadiol, were isolated and characterized from the roots of Ferula jaeskeana . Two sesquiterpene-coumarin ethers were isolated for the first time from this plant.

Sesquiterpenes from Centaurea aspera

The aerial parts of two subspecies of Centaurea aspera L. (Asteraceae) yielded the germacranolides 1a-h, 2, 3, 4 and 5, the elemane derivatives 6d and 6f, the lignan matairesinol, the degraded terpene loliolide, and the onopordopicrin-valine dimeric adduct 7. From these, compounds 1e, 3 and 6d are natural products.
