A modified-set partitioning in hierarchical trees algorithm for real-time image compression
Among all algorithms based on wavelet transform and zerotree quantization, Said and Pearlman’s set partitioning in hierarchical trees (SPIHT) algorithm is well known for its simplicity and efficiency. SPIHT’s high memory requirement is a major drawback to hardware implementation.

ECG signal compression by predictive coding and Set Partitioning in Hierarchical Trees (SPIHT)
2015 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science and Information Systems (ICACSIS), 2015In this paper we present a method for multi-lead ECG signal compression using Predictive Coding combined with Set Partitioning In Hierarchical Trees (SPIHT). We utilize linear prediction between the beats to exploit the high correlation among those beats. This method can optimize the redundancy between adjacent samples and adjacent beats.

Medical image compression with set partitioning in hierarchical trees
Wavelet-based image compression is proving to be a very effective technique for medical images, giving significantly better results than the JPEG algorithm. A novel scheme for encoding wavelet coefficients, termed set partitioning in hierarchical trees, has recently been proposed and yields significantly better compression than more standard methods ...

An image watermarking approach based on Set Partitioning in Hierarchical Trees(SPIHT)algorithm
2012 International Conference on Informatics, Electronics & Vision (ICIEV), 2012In recent times, digital watermarking has become one of the advanced technologies to protect images from illicit manipulations. A non-blind robust Discrete Wavelet Transform domain watermarking approach for images is introduced in this paper. Based on the parent-child relationship between wavelet coefficients, the Set Partitioning in Hierarchical Trees

Video coding with virtual set partitioning in hierarchical tree
2002 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems. Proceedings (Cat. No.02CH37353), 2003This paper proposes an efficient wavelet based video coding system using virtual set partitioning in hierarchical trees (VSPIHT). A novel composite spatial orientation tree (SOT) is proposed to extend the use of VSPIHT for color frames and the color VSPIHT (CVSPIHT) based hybrid video coder is proposed.

Using set partitioning in hierarchical trees to authenticate digital images
Signal Processing: Image Communication, 2003In this paper, we present a new image authentication scheme to verify the contents of multi-resolution digital images. The authentication message of a given image is generated based on the set partition in hierarchical trees (SPIHT) encoding. When the original authentication message and the SPIHT decoded message of the image to be authenticated are ...

3D-Memory efficient listless set partitioning in hierarchical trees for hyperspectral image sensors
Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy Systems, 2023Hyperspectral (HS) images contain rich spatial and spectral information. Due to its large size, it is difficult to store, process, analyze, or transmit the critical information contained in it. The compression of hyperspectral images is inevitable. Many transform based Hyper Spectral Image Compression Algorithms (HSICAs) have been proposed in the past ...

Memory Efficient Set Partitionning in Hierarchical Tree (MESH) for Wavelet Image Compression
Proceedings. (ICASSP '05). IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005., 2006This paper presents a memory efficient version of set partitioning in hierarchical tree (SPIHT). The proposed coder termed as memory efficient SPIHT (MESH), uses a single re-usable list instead of three continuously growing linked lists as in conventional SPIHT.
