Calculation of the foundation settlement during compensation grouting [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
The article presents the issue of correctly calculating the SSC of the foundation bases in the process of compensation grouting. It is shown that the numerical calculation should be performed in two versions: hydrostatic pressure and rear volume strain ...

An Experimental Study on Settlement due to the Mutual Embedding of Miscellaneous Fill and Soft Soil

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2020
Settlement deformation in the foundation with miscellaneous fill and soft soil was typically calculated by summing up the settlement in each individual layer.

Theoretical basics of applying the one dimensional problem of soils compression seal theory to large foundation plates calculation

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
Calculation of compressed footings settlement is one of the most vital tasks of soil mechanics. The calculation method of layer-by-layer addition, which recommended by current regulations and used in structural engineering practice, is most suitable for ...

Analytical Study on Surface Settlement Troughs Induced by the Sequential Excavation of Adjacent and Parallel Tunnels in Layered Soils

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2022
In this paper, the settlement troughs induced by the excavation of adjacent and parallel tunnels in layered soils were studied. Firstly, a trough width parameter calculation method in layered soils was established based on the propagation model of the ...

Influence of Structural Stiffness Representation in Settlement Calculations and Practical Advice

open access: yesBuildings
State-of-the-art geotechnical and structural analyses commonly rely on finite-element analysis, treating soil and structure models separately. Incorporating the overall stiffness of the structure into the geotechnical model enables more realistic ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Settlement Calculation Method for Composite Foundations Reinforced with Geo-Encased Stone Columns

open access: yesZhongwai Gonglu
Geo-encased stone columns (GESCs), known for their cost-effectiveness and simple construction, are widely employed in the reinforcement of soft soil foundations in practical engineering, and the analysis of their settlement serves as a crucial foundation

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.
