NF2 is Essential for Human Endoderm Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that NF2, moesin‐ezrin‐radixin like (MERLIN) tumor suppressor (NF2) is essential for human endoderm formation. NF2 knockout human induced pluripotent stem cells fail to form endoderm both in vitro and in vivo due to yes‐associated protein 1 (YAP1) nuclear translocation, redirecting differentiation toward myofibroblast‐like cells.

Severe Combined Immunodeficiency: A Case Series and Review from a Tertiary Pediatric Hospital

open access: yesIranian Journal of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, 2018
Severe combined immunodeficiency syndrome (SCID) is a life-threatening condition leading to early infant death as a result of severe infection, due to impaired cellular and humoral immune systems.

Complex Agent Networks explaining the HIV epidemic among homosexual men in Amsterdam [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
Simulating the evolution of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) epidemic requires a detailed description of the population network, especially for small populations in which individuals can be represented in detail and accuracy. In this paper, we introduce the concept of a Complex Agent Network(CAN) to model the HIV epidemics by combining agent ...

Transmission clusters in the HIV-1 epidemic among men who have sex with men in Montreal, Quebec, Canada [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Background. Several studies have used phylogenetics to investigate Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) transmission among Men who have Sex with Men (MSMs) in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, revealing many transmission clusters. The Quebec HIV genotyping program sequence database now includes viral sequences from close to 4,000 HIV-positive individuals ...

YC‐4‐3, a Novel Glycogen Synthase Kinase 3β Inhibitor, Alleviates the Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress of Macrophages in Primary Immune Thrombocytopenia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A patented GSK‐3β inhibitor (GSK‐3βi), new benzothiazepinone compounds (BTZs), YC‐4‐3, can modulate the inflammatory status of macrophages in primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), and improve the thrombocytopenia in murine ITP models by directly interacting with endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress response.

The Super Enhancer‐Driven Long Noncoding RNA PRKCQ‐AS1 Promotes Neuroblastoma Tumorigenesis by Interacting With MSI2 Protein and Is Targetable by Small Molecule Compounds

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PRKCQ‐AS1 is overexpressed due to transcriptional super‐enhancers. PRKCQ‐AS1 RNA forms a complex with MSI2 protein to induce BMX mRNA stabilization and overexpression, ERK protein phosphorylation and neuroblastoma cell proliferation. Compound NSC617570 blocks PRKCQ‐AS1 binding to MSI2, leading to BMX mRNA disassociation from MSI2 protein, BMX reduction,

Optimization of protein removal process of Lonicera japonica polysaccharide and its immunomodulatory mechanism in cyclophosphamide‐induced mice by metabolomics and network pharmacology

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 364-378, January 2023., 2023
In this paper, the best protein removal method of Lonicera japonica polysaccharide was determined and its process was optimized by response surface method. Pharmacological experiments showed that polysaccharides had therapeutic effect on immunodeficiency mice induced by cyclophosphamide (CTX).

Bayesian nonparametric generative models for causal inference with missing at random covariates [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
We propose a general Bayesian nonparametric (BNP) approach to causal inference in the point treatment setting. The joint distribution of the observed data (outcome, treatment, and confounders) is modeled using an enriched Dirichlet process. The combination of the observed data model and causal assumptions allows us to identify any type of causal effect

Targeting Senescence with Apigenin Improves Chemotherapeutic Efficacy and Ameliorates Age‐Related Conditions in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
As a plant‐derived flavonoid, apigenin directly targets PRDX6 to inhibit its PLA2 activity, blocking HSPA8 activation and disturbing its interactions with ATM and p38MAPK in senescent cells. By dampening wide spectrum expression of the SASP, apigenin prevents loss of tissue homeostasis, improves organ function, and alleviates multiple age‐related ...
