Conceptual design of an SFCL by use of BSCCO wire
Superconducting fault current limiters (SFCLs) are promising devices to reduce the fault current constraint when designing and operating power systems. SFCLs must meet requirements for precise operation, operating impedance, recovery time, and so on. SFCLs using YBCO thin film or bulk BSCCO meet some of these requirements.

Review on the SFCL Control Techniques in grid System
In this paper, the authors present a comparative study of inductive and resistive superconducting residual current limiters (SFCLs) from the perspective of current limiting and transient stability of the power supply system. Different types of SFCL can be used to reduce the magnitude of the fault current in a power system.

Three-Phase Saturated-Core Fault Current Limiter
The saturated-core fault current limiter (SFCL) is widely used to limit the fault current. However, in the conventional SFCL structure, alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) coils are wound on different loosely coupled cores.

Cryogenic DC Circuit Breaker Based on High‐Power Press‐Pack IGBT
This paper presents the performance of cryogenically compatible 3.3 kV/1.5 kA PP‐IGBTs as the main circuit breaker in a hybrid circuit breaker. The 3.3 kV/1.5 kA press‐pack IGBT can interrupt currents exceeding 5.1 kA when immersed in a liquid nitrogen bath. PP‐IGBTs are promising candidates for high‐power circuit breakers in cryogenically cooled power

A review of the effect of common fault current limiters (FCLs) on power systems reliability
This article provides a literature review of the effect of FCLs on the reliability of various systems (such as substations and distribution systems) for the first time. It identifies research gaps and challenges in this field. According to identified gaps, it provides suggestions for future works to the researchers.

Investigation of shunt resistor's connection for a DC Resistive SFCL
A DC-operating resistive-type superconducting fault current limiter for AC applications (in short a DC Resistive SFCL) is based on the synergistic use of the resistive and the rectifier fault current limiter concepts, and allows the superconductor to operate in nearly DC current conditions.

Optimal Protection Planning and Coordination in Microgrids With SDGs, SFCLs, and OCR Using WOA
One of the critical challenges in power system protection is ensuring proper relay coordination. To achieve optimal coordination of protection systems and ensure security, fast cleaning, and selection of types of faults is a necessary priority. This priority, when hosting synchronous distributed generations (SDGs), although technical factors like power

Integrated control scheme for induction generator, fault current limiter, and energy storage in wind farms [PDF]
One of main problems of power systems with doubly fed induction generators (DFIG)-based wind farms is their capability of fault ride through (FRT) and output power fluctuations.
