Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome and its pathogen SFTSV
Microbes and Infection, 2015Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging hemorrhagic fever in East Asia with case fatality up to 50%. SFTS is caused by SFTSV, a tick borne bunyavirus. In endemic area in China 1%-3% population was infected with SFTSV, but age is critical risk factor for hospitalization and death of SFTS patients.

Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging tick-borne viral infection caused by a bandavirus in the family of Phenuiviridae, commonly known as SFTS virus (SFTSV). We have previously isolated SFTSV from blood samples of SFTS patients and established an antiviral assay system to identify selective inhibitors of SFTSV in vitro ...

An emerging hemorrhagic fever in China caused by a novel bunyavirus SFTSV [PDF]
Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is an emerging hemorrhagic fever in rural areas of China and is caused by a new bunyavirus, SFTSV, named after the disease. The transmission vectors and animal hosts of SFTSV are unclear. Ticks are the most likely transmission vectors and domestic animals, including goats, dogs, and cattle, are ...

Bunyavirus SFTSV nucleoprotein exploits TUFM-mediated mitophagy to impair antiviral innate immunity
Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome is an emerging viral hemorrhagic fever caused by a tick-borne bunyavirus, severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV), with a high case fatality. We previously found that SFTSV nucleoprotein (NP) induces macroautophagy/autophagy to facilitate virus replication.

SFTSV induces liver ferroptosis through m6A-related ferritinophagy
Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) is a widely prevalent infectious disease caused by severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV). SFTSV infection carries a high mortality rate and has emerged to be a public health concern. SFTSV infection could induce many classical cell death pathways. Ferroptosis, a novel iron-dependent

Bunyavirus SFTSV NSs utilizes autophagy to escape the antiviral innate immune response
Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) nonstructural protein (NSs) is an important viral virulence factor that sequesters multiple antiviral proteins into inclusion bodies to escape the antiviral innate immune response. However, the mechanism of the NSs restricting host innate immunity remains largely elusive. Here, we found that the

Experimental Infection of Ticks with SFTSV
Many members in the class Bunyaviricetes are tick-borne viruses. Experimental viral infection of ticks is greatly needed to better understand the tick-virus interactions. To date, multiple laboratory techniques for the viral infection of ticks have been documented.Jiao, Xu, Xue-Jie, Yu

Genome-based analysis of SFTSV causing severe encephalitis with brain lesions
Journal of NeuroVirology, 2019Encephalitis is an infrequent manifestation in the various spectrums caused by severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) infection. There are few data about the possible pathogenic mechanisms of SFTSV-associated encephalitis. Here, two SFTSV-infected patients with onset of encephalitis were enrolled.

2019
At first, the basic structures of the viral genomes of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) and related viruses are shown. Then the structures and functions of structural and nonstructural proteins of SFTSV are discussed. Finally, recent information relating to the basic property of SFTSV, cytopathic effect, plaque formation and ...

Molecular Epidemiology of SFTSV
2019Indigenous severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) has been reported to be endemic to China, South Korea, and Japan. To date, several molecular epidemiology and phylogenetic studies of SFTS virus (SFTSV) have been performed. At the beginning of this review, the impact of the source of the samples (i.e., patient specimens vs.
