Nonlocomotory Robotic Strategies for Dynamic Rotation Control in Terrestrial Robots: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Terrestrial robots increasingly require rapid body rotation to maintain stability and agility in complex environments. This review shows nonlocomotory rotational control strategies that operate without ground contact, including reaction wheels, tails, bars, limbs, and thrusters.

A Shaft Generator System without Output Voltage Distortion

open access: yesIEEJ Transactions on Industry Applications, 1999
A shaft generator system, which consists of a shaft generator, a rectifier, an externally commutated thyristor inverter, an ac reactor, and a synchronous condenser, is being increasingly used mainly in large ships. Conventional type of the shaft generator system has a fundamental drawback of involving a large amount of harmonics in the output voltage ...

Echinoderm‐Inspired Autonomy for Soft‐Legged Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Inspired by echinoderms, a modular soft robot achieves autonomous phototaxis without a central controller or explicit communication. Each limb independently adapts its actuation timing through local sensing and short‐term memory. Coordination emerges purely from physical interactions, demonstrating resilience to changes in morphology, environment, and ...

Calculation of Parasitic Capacitance to Analyze Shaft Voltage of Electric Motor with Direct-Oil-Cooling System

open access: yes, 2022
In modern electric vehicles, electrical failure has become a critical problem that reduces the lifetime of traction motors. Moreover, traction motors with high-voltage and high-speed systems for a high power density have been aggravating the shaft ...

Muscle Control of an Extra Robotic Digit

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This study compares muscle‐ and movement‐based control for operating a supernumerary robotic thumb. While movement control performs better in the proposed tasks, muscle‐based (EMG) control promotes broader motor learning. The results highlight the promise and challenges of using biosignals for human augmentation, offering new insights into intuitive ...

Grip and Grasp: Lizard Claw Inspired Robotic Manipulators

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Our study identifies the most effective lizard claw shape for use as an end effector in a bioinspired robotic manipulator. By examining key geometric features and combining them into comparative indices, the Crotaphytus collaris claw is found to be the best fit.

Modeling and reduction of shaft voltages in AC motors fed by frequency converters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This thesis deals with the modeling and mitigation of shaft voltages and bearing currents in frequency converter-fed AC motors. Common-mode voltages produced by modern frequency converters can cause destructive currents in motor bearings.
