Motion analysis of furniture under seismic excitation using the finite element method
Improperly secured furniture, especially on the upper floors of high‐rise buildings under long‐period ground motion, can prove dangerous to human life. Fallen items of furniture such as chairs and desks could become fatal obstacles that prevent efficient

Development of a fidelity structural model based on a shake table test for an innovative seismic resisting system [PDF]
The research project is to produce a fidelity three-dimensional (3D) structural model based on a shake table test, which is used to demonstrate performances of an innovative seismic resisting system for reducing damages to building structures under ...

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

A microchip optomechanical accelerometer [PDF]
The monitoring of accelerations is essential for a variety of applications ranging from inertial navigation to consumer electronics. The basic operation principle of an accelerometer is to measure the displacement of a flexibly mounted test mass ...

This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Analysis and Testing of the FBA-11 Force [Balance] Accelerometer [PDF]
The FBA-11 is a feedback-controlled accelerometer widely used to measure and record accelerations arising from earthquakes. It has found application both for structural response and for ground motion studies.

Neutrino Mass, Electron Capture and the Shake-off Contributions
Electron capture can determine the electron neutrino mass, while the beta decay of Tritium measures the electron antineutrino mass and the neutrinoless double beta decay observes the Majorana neutrino mass. Electron capture e. g.
