Pore structure and free gas transport characteristics of deep shale: taking Longmaxi Formation shale in Sichuan Basin as an example

open access: yesShiyou shiyan dizhi, 2023
Deep shale gas is an important research direction for increasing shale gas storage and production in the Longmaxi Formation of Sichuan Basin. But there are differences in reservoir and seepage characteristics between shallow and medium-buried shale gas ...

Numerical Simulation of Time-Varying Characteristics in a High-Permeability Sandstone Reservoir: A Case of Gaoqian Southern Area

open access: yesGeofluids
In the process of long-term water flooding in the Gaoqian Southern Area with an average porosity of 30% and an average permeability of 1333.5×10−3 μm2, the fluid-solid interaction among oil, water, and rock has a great influence on the pore structure. It

Characteristics of Microbial Communities and Their Correlation With Environmental Substrates and Sediment Type in the Gas-Bearing Formation of Hangzhou Bay, China

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
Shallow gas is a kind of natural gas buried in shallow strata, generally, with methane as the main component, endowing it a potential energy resource while also a potential risk to the safety of ground engineering and environment.

Shallow gas off the Rhône prodelta, Gulf of Lions [PDF]

open access: yesMarine Geology, 2006
Sediment cores acquired in 2004 off the Rhone prodelta show consistent anomalous methane concentrations of up to 87,440 ppm. Methane compositional and isotopic data support a biogenic origin, although there are a few sites that show strongly depleted delta C-13 values (-53%o PDB) suggesting a mixed source for the gas (biogenic and thermogenic ...

Shale Gas and the EU Internal Gas Market: Beyond the Hype and Hysteria. CEPS Working Document No. 369, September 2012 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper analyses the interplay between shale gas and the EU internal gas market. Drawing on data presented in the 2012 International Energy Agency’s report on unconventional gas and additional scenario analyses performed by the Joint Research Centre ...

Inverse Identification of Energy‐Dependent Laser Absorptivity in NiTi Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion via Calibrated Melt Pool Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined experimental–computational framework identifies energy‐dependent laser absorptivity for NiTi in laser powder‐bed fusion, applicable to conduction and transition modes. Single‐track experiments and thermofluid smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations are coupled through inverse analysis of melt pool geometry.

Carbon isotopic composition of methane and its origin in natural gas from the Petišovci-Dolina oil and gas field (Pannonian Basin System, NE Slovenia) – a preliminary study

open access: yesGeologija, 2022
The carbon isotopic composition of methane (δ13CCH4) in natural gas from the Petišovci-Dolina oil and gas field (NE Slovenia) was measured for the first time in August and September 2021. The gas samples from different depths were taken from three wells:

Influence of Scan Strategies in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion on Solidification, Microstructure, and High‐Temperature Compressive Properties of γ′‐Strengthened Inconel 738LC

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Experiments and thermophysical simulations were conducted to investigate the electron beam powder bed fusion electron beam (PBF‐EB/M) process for the γ′‐strengthened nickel‐based superalloy Inconel 738LC. The results demonstrate the impact of process‐induced microstructural variations on high‐temperature mechanical behavior, providing a basis for ...
