This article investigates the dependence of the properties on the manufacturing orientation in the form of the inclination angle to the build plate of LPBF‐fabricated NiTi rods with a diameter of 150–220 µm. Metallographic, chemical, thermal, and mechanical characterization show behavior under identical manufacturing conditions that ranges from ...

This study examines Invar composites reinforced with titanium carbide (TiC) and titanium nitride (TiN) using laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). It presents the influence of reinforcements on microstructure, tensile properties, and thermal expansion. Results show that TiC effectively strengthens Invar while maintaining low thermal expansion, whereas TiN ...

Gas-driven tensile fracturing in shallow marine sediments
The flow of gas through shallow marine sediments is an important component of the global carbon cycle and affects methane release to the ocean and atmosphere as well as submarine slope stability. Seafloor methane venting is often linked to dissociating hydrates or gas migration from a deep source, and subsurface evidence of gas-driven tensile ...

Near‐surface deuterium enrichment profiles for different microstructural types of TiAl after exposure at 700 °C in a heavy water‐containing environment. The deuterium levels are significantly higher than expected from natural occurrence, indicating that the heavy water dissociated during the exposure treatment and entered the specimens.

Free Phase Gas in Shallow Groundwater
The unintended migration of natural gases and saline fluids from deep formations into shallow aquifers can increase the risk of explosion during groundwater extraction, induce biogeochemical changes in aquifers containing potable groundwater, and increase greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere.
