Hybrid robust deep and shallow semantic processing for creativity support in document production [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The research performed in the DeepThought project (http://www.project-deepthought.net) aims at demonstrating the potential of deep linguistic processing if added to existing shallow methods that ensure robustness.

The causal effect of agricultural landscape simplification on Germany's grasslands during a compound drought and heatwave in 2018

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Preserving ecosystem services, along with economic and environmental benefits, will require future landscape policies to identify and incorporate relevant landscape features. In this paper, we investigate the causal effect of agricultural landscape simplification on drought‐related grassland damages.

Method of fabricating shallow trench isolation structure

open access: yes, 2011
[[abstract]]A method of fabricating a shallow trench isolation structure is described. A preserve layer is formed on a substrate. A trench is formed in the substrate and the preserve layer.

A well‐resolved phylogeny of Cuscuta subgenus Monogynella based on data drawn from all three plant genomes

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Cuscuta (dodders) consists of ~200 species circumscribed into four subgenera (Monogynella, Cuscuta, Pachystigma, and Grammica) and is the only parasitic genus in Convolvulaceae (the morning‐glory family). This group shows a significant diversity in plastid functionality and represents a rare mixotrophic system among parasitic plants ...

Risk and Policy Shocks on the US Term Structure [PDF]

open access: yes
We document two stylised facts of US short- and long-term interest rate data incompatible with the pure expectations hypothesis: Relatively slow adjustment to long-run relations and low contemporaneous correlation.

A Novel Homozygous Nonsense Variant in DCHS1 in a Brazilian Patient With Van Maldergem Syndrome Type 1: Clinical Report and Literature Review

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Van Maldergem syndrome (VMLDS) is an ultra‐rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by craniofacial dysmorphism, intellectual disability, hypotonia, skeletal anomalies, and feeding difficulties. It is caused by biallelic variants in DCHS1 or FAT4 genes.

"Peso problem" explanations for term structure anomalies [PDF]

open access: yes
We examine the empirical evidence on the expectation hypothesis of the term structure of interest rates in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany using the Campbell-Shiller (1991) regressions and a vector-autoregressive methodology.

1,2‐propanediol reformulation improves tribromoethanol safety and reveals pontine GABRA1 enrichment as a candidate mechanistic correlate of anesthesia

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study develops a reformulated tribromoethanol (TBE) anesthetic using 1,2‐propanediol as a solvent to overcome solvent‐related toxicity. The novel formulation demonstrates, cardiovascular stability, and survival in prolonged protocols. It provides potent, dose‐dependent anesthesia without strain or sex differences.

Predictions of short-term rates and the expectations hypothesis [PDF]

open access: yes
Despite its role in monetary policy and finance, the expectations hypothesis (EH) of the term structure of interest rates has received virtually no empirical support.

The Spanish term structure of interest rates revisited: cointegration with multiple structural breaks, 1974-2010 [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we consider the possibility that a linear cointegrated regression model with multiples structural changes would provide a better empirical description of the term structure model of interest rates.
