Keeping Pace or Falling Behind? The Depth of Latin American Trade Agreements

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article examines whether Latin American countries are keeping pace with global trends in trade agreement depth or falling behind. Using 681 agreements (1970–2019), we develop the Depth Index of Trade Agreements (DITA) to weight provisions endogenously through factor analysis based on co‐occurrence patterns.

Farmers' Preferences for Fossil‐Free Mineral Nitrogen Fertilizers: Role of Prices, Climate, Production Origin, and Identity

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Disruptions in global fertilizer markets and climate targets have increased interest in fossil‐free mineral nitrogen fertilizers. This study examines farmers' preferences for conventional (fossil‐based) and fossil‐free fertilizers using a labeled discrete choice experiment with 211 Swedish farmers.

On the Expectations Hypothesis in US Term Structure [PDF]

open access: yes
We extend the vector autoregression (VAR) based expectations hypothesis (EH) test of term structure, considered in Bekaert & Hodrick (2001), B&H thereafter, using recent developments in bootstrap literature.

Lumped modeling of bubbling fluidized beds for high‐temperature processes

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Bubbling fluidized beds (BFBs) have been a source of study for multiple decades. Among other applications, they can be used as scalable reactors for the conversion of biomass and waste resources to fuels. Several experimental and computational studies have been devoted to correlating the interplay of hydrodynamics and heat and mass transfer in

Discovery of populations of the critically endangered coral Rhizopsammia wellingtoni in the Galápagos mesophotic zone

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice
Wellington's solitary coral, Rhizopsammia wellingtoni, has not been documented since 2006 in the Galápagos Islands, leading to its designation as a critically endangered species by the IUCN due to declining populations and a risk of extinction.

Dynamic Capital Structure: the Case of Hufvudstaden [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper introduces a new approach of testing capital structure hypothesis on a firm specific level. Johansen’s procedure for cointegration testing is employed to test theories of optimal capital structure.

Cell Segmentation Beyond 2D—A Review of the State‐of‐the‐Art

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Cell segmentation underpins many biological image analysis tasks, yet most deep learning methods remain limited to 2D despite the inherently 3D nature of cellular processes. This review surveys segmentation approaches beyond 2D, comparing 2.5D and fully 3D methods, analyzing 31 models and 32 volumetric datasets, and introducing a unified reference ...

Genetic Structure of Eudorella emarginata (Peracarida: Cumacea): Effects of Topography and Historical Anoxic Events in the Sea of Japan

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Geohistorical events are among the most important factors determining population genetic structure. The Sea of Japan is an intriguing area because of its connection to neighboring seas via shallow straits (

Accelerating Discovery of Organic Molecular Crystals via Materials Informatics and Autonomous Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Materials informatics and autonomous experimentation are transforming the discovery of organic molecular crystals. This review presents an integrated molecule–crystal–function–optimization workflow combining machine learning, crystal structure prediction, and Bayesian optimization with robotic platforms.

The Term Structure of the Polish Interbank Rates. A Note on the Symmetry of their Reversion to the Mean [PDF]

open access: yes
The empirical analysis of the term structure of the Polish interbank rates has revealed that the short and the long rates from the whole spectrum of maturities have evolved almost accordingly to the expectations hypothesis.
