Shannon entropy H and related measures are increasingly used in molecular ecology and population genetics because (1) unlike measures based on heterozygosity or allele number, these measures weigh alleles in proportion to their population fraction, thus ...

In the context of river dynamics, some experimental results have shown that particle velocity is different from fluid velocity along the stream-wise direction for uniform sediment-laden open-channel flows; this velocity difference has been termed ...

IR‐induced dysbiosis depletes P. coprophilus and its metabolite 6‐methyluracil, leading to disinhibition of the IDO1‐Kyn‐AHR axis. This results in sustained fibroblast activation and collagen deposition, driving radiation induced intestinal fibrosis. ABSTRACT Therapeutic options for radiation‐induced intestinal fibrosis (RIF) remain limited. This study

A Characterization of Entropy in Terms of Information Loss
There are numerous characterizations of Shannon entropy and Tsallis entropy as measures of information obeying certain properties. Using work by Faddeev and Furuichi, we derive a very simple characterization.

A novel Bifidobacterium breve strain, Yang08, is isolated to counter its depletion in atopic dermatitis. In mice, live Yang08 requires an intact gut microbiota to exert protection, specifically enriching Akkermansia muciniphila and potently inhibiting pathogenic neutrophil activation and NETosis in the skin.

Comparing Security Notions of Secret Sharing Schemes
Different security notions of secret sharing schemes have been proposed by different information measures. Entropies, such as Shannon entropy and min entropy, are frequently used in the setting security notions for secret sharing schemes.

Biomechanics‐Driven 3D Architecture Inference from Histology Using CellSqueeze3D
CellSqueeze3D reconstructs 3D cellular architecture from standard 2D histology images using biomechanical constraints and optimization. Validated on clinical datasets, it enables accurate tissue phenotyping, predicts gene mutations, and reveals significant correlations between nuclear‐cytoplasmic ratio entropy and tumor progression.

Generalized (c,d)-Entropy and Aging Random Walks
Complex systems are often inherently non-ergodic and non-Markovian and Shannon entropy loses its applicability. Accelerating, path-dependent and aging random walks offer an intuitive picture for non-ergodic and non-Markovian systems.

Cellular Identity Crisis: RD3 Loss Fuels Plasticity and Immune Silence in Progressive Neuroblastoma
Researchers discovered that therapy‐induced loss of RD3 protein in neuroblastoma triggers a dangerous shift: cancer cells become more stem‐like, invasive, and resistant to treatment while evading immune detection. RD3 loss suppresses antigen presentation and boosts immune checkpoints, creating an immune‐silent environment.
