Sr isotopes: The interplay between shape coexistence and quantum phase transitions [PDF]
In this contribution we study the even-even Sr isotopes considering the influence of particle-hole intruder states. We find that the rapid onset of deformation at A = 98 and onwards can be explained by the crossing of regular and intruder states.

Shape coexistence from lifetime and branching-ratio measurements in 68,70Ni
Shape coexistence near closed-shell nuclei, whereby states associated with deformed shapes appear at relatively low excitation energy alongside spherical ones, is indicative of the rapid change in structure that can occur with the addition or removal of ...

Prolate-oblate shape coexistence in 75Kr [PDF]
In these lectures I review some basic examples of how the concepts of universality and scaling can be used to study aspects of the chiral and the deconfinement transition, if not in QCD directly but in QCD-like theories. As an example for flavor dynamics I discuss a quark-hadron model to describe the phase diagram of two-color QCD with the functional ...

Coexisting shape- and high-K isomers in the shape transitional nucleus 188Pt
A high-spin study of the shape transitional nucleus 188Pt reveals the unusual coexistence of both shape- and K-isomeric states. Reduced B(E2) transition probabilities for decays from these states inferred from the data clearly establish their hindered ...

The nuclear structure of $^{66}$Se, nucleus beyond the N=Z line on the proton-rich side of the valley of stability, was investigated by the neutron knock-out reaction $^{67}$Se($^{12}$C,X)$^{66}$Se using a $^{12}$C target. The analysis of the singles spectrum of the γ-rays emitted during the de-excitation of the populated low-lying excited states ...

Level lifetimes in 52Cr from DSAM following inelastic neutron scattering: Implications for shape coexistence and E0 strengths [PDF]
Nuclear shape coexistence is a widespread but not yet well understood phenomenon. Electric monopole (E0) transitions are a particularly sensitive probe of shape coexistence.

Magic numbers for shape coexistence [PDF]
The increasing deformation in atomic nuclei leads to the change of the classical magic numbers (2,8,20,28,50,82…) which dictate the arrangement of nucleons in complete shells. The magic numbers of the three-dimensional harmonic oscillator (2,8,20,40,70,…) emerge at deformations around ε=0.6.

β-decay studies for shape coexistence
β decay has played a key role in studies of shape coexistence throughout the nuclear chart. This has been mainly due to the sensitivity in γ-ray and conversion electron spectroscopy that can be achieved following the population of excited states by β ...
