Silhouette-based gait recognition using Procrustes shape analysis and elliptic Fourier descriptors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper presents a gait recognition method which combines spatio-temporal motion characteristics, statistical and physical parameters (referred to as STM-SPP) of a human subject for its classification by analysing shape of the subject's silhouette ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Feature extraction via heat flow analogy

open access: yes, 2009
Feature extraction is an important field of image processing and computer vision. Features can be classified as low-level and high-level. Low-level features do not give shape information of the objects, where the popular low-level feature ...

Glass shape influences consumption rate for alcoholic beverages [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background: High levels of alcohol consumption and increases in heavy episodic drinking (binge drinking) are a growing public concern, due to their association with increased risk of personal and societal harm.

Estimation and analysis of probability of PVD film sensor crack detection

open access: yesCailiao gongcheng, 2019
In order to quantitatively characterize the ability of PVD(physical vapor deposition) film sensors to detect cracks in metallic structures, the process parameters applied to LY12-CZ aluminium alloys were first optimized using orthogonal tests, and coin ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

On Shape-Mediated Enrolment in Ear Biometrics

open access: yes, 2007
Ears are a new biometric with major advantage in that they appear to maintain their shape with increased age. Any automatic biometric system needs enrolment to extract the target area from the background. In ear biometrics the inputs are often human head
