Interplay of Martensitic Phase Transformation and Plastic Slip in Polycrystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Inspired by key experimental and analytical results regarding Shape Memory Alloys (SMAs), we propose a modelling framework to explore the interplay between martensitic phase transformations and plastic slip in polycrystalline materials, with an eye ...

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Shape Memory Polymers: From Bead–Spring Models to Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

Viscosity of liquid GaxNi100-x alloys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Structure of liquid Sb-Sn alloys were studied by means of viscosity measurements and X-ray diffraction. Structural factors and pair correlation functions were analyzed and interpreted using the random atomic distribution model.

Medical applications of shape memory alloys [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2003
Shape memory alloys (SMA) are materials that have the ability to return to a former shape when subjected to an appropriate thermomechanical procedure. Pseudoelastic and shape memory effects are some of the behaviors presented by these alloys. The unique properties concerning these alloys have encouraged many investigators to look for applications of ...

Encyclopedia of 2D β′‐In2Se3 Growth Using Chemical Vapor Deposition: The Effects of Synthesis Parameters Onto Material Quality

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A distinct semi‐confined inner‐tube chemical vapor deposition geometry enables reproducible, large‐area growth of phase‐pure 2D β′‐In2Se3 from InI + Se precursors. Engineering local vapor transport and optimizing precursor delivery and temperature–time conditions yield uniform continuous films.

Reconciling viability and cost-effective shape memory alloy options – A review of copper and iron based shape memory metallic systems

open access: yesEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal, 2016
Shape memory alloys (SMAs) are group of alloys that display anthropomorphic characteristics. These alloys recover their pre-deformed morphology when heated above their transition temperatures after being deformed in their lower temperature phase ...

A shape memory alloy adaptive tuned vibration absorber: design and implementation

open access: yes, 2005
In this paper a tuned vibration absorber (TVA) is realized using shape memory alloy (SMA) elements. The elastic modulus of SMA changes with temperature and this effect is exploited to develop a continuously tunable device.A TVA with beam elements is ...
