Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Tests regarding parameters of several independent gamma populations [PDF]

open access: yes
Gamma distribution has been used with considerable success in reliability studies and life testing experiments. This distribution assumes various forms as its shape parameter varies which makes it suitable for analyzing a variety of lifetime data.

Renewed empirical formulas for estimating Weibull distribution parameters

open access: yesКомпьютерная оптика
The empirical formulas proposed in the literature for estimating the parameters of a two-parameter Weibull distribution, obtained using the equations of the moment method, are considered. It is noted that the formulas used to estimate the shape parameter

Modelling of diameter distributions of Douglas (Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco) stands

open access: yesİstanbul Üniversitesi Orman Fakültesi Dergisi, 2016
In this study, Diameter distributions of Amance and Vallombrosa origin stands of Douglas were intendent modelling with two parameter Weibull probability density function having shape and scale parameters for different age periods.

A novel geometric modeling approach for cubic developable C-Bézier surfaces

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2020
In this paper, a novel geometric modeling method is proposed to construct generalized cubic developable C-Bézier (GCDC-Bézier, for short) surfaces with shape parameters.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

The role of the shape parameter in the estimation of the mean vector in multivariate Student-t population

open access: yes, 2004
The role of the shape parameter in determining the properties of the shrinkage and positive-rule shrinkage estimators of the mean vector of multivariate populations is of main interest in this paper.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Optimal constant shape parameter for multiquadric based RBF-FD method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Radial basis functions (RBFs) have become a popular method for interpolation and solution of partial differential equations (PDEs). Many types of RBFs used in these problems contain a shape parameter, and there is much experimental evidence showing that ...
