The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Shape parameters of a floating bubble
For a floating bubble, in the range of Bond numbers based on an equivalent spherical radius, 0 < Boe < 1, we present analytical expressions for various shape parameters of the bubble as functions of Boe. Expressions are obtained for the radius of the rim Rr, the radius of the thin film cap Rc, the height of the top of the cap from the rim

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The Mystery of the Shape Parameter
In this paper we present criteria for the optimal choice of the shape parameter c contained in the famous radial function multiquadrics.

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Equivalent Gini coefficient, not shape parameter!
In a recent contribution in this journal, Gagolewski et al. (Scientometrics 127(5): 2829– 2845, 2022) study a new model for representing a rank size distribution – the so-called 3DSI (3 dimensions of scientific impact) model.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Biquadratic TC-Bézier Curves with Shape Parameter
Shape controlling is a popular topic in curves and surfaces design with free form. In this paper, a new curve, to be called Biquadratic TC-Bézier curves with shape parameter , is constructed in the space .

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
