Meta‐analysis fails to show any correlation between protein abundance and ubiquitination changes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We analyzed over 50 published proteomics datasets to explore the relationship between protein levels and ubiquitination changes across multiple experimental conditions and biological systems. Although ubiquitination is often associated with protein degradation, our analysis shows that changes in ubiquitination do not globally correlate with changes in ...

Experiment and Numerical Simulation on Shale Cutting and Breaking of Special-shaped Cutter

open access: yesShiyou jixie
In order to solve the problems of low rock-breaking efficiency and short service life of PDC bit in drilling shale gas wells, a study was made on the shale cutting and breaking mechanism of special-shaped cutter.Based on typical special-shaped cutters ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

TEMPERATURE EVALUATION UNDER CURVED-EDGE TOOL CUTTING

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2014
A theoretical model for determining temperature on the working surfaces of the tool with the blade shaped profile is considered. Analytical dependences for estimating the thermal state of the blade front face (tooth cutter) with an elliptical profile in ...

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Machining of complex-shaped parts with guidance curves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Nowadays, high-speed machining is usually used for production of hardened material parts with complex shapes such as dies and molds. In such parts, tool paths generated for bottom machining feature with the conventional parallel plane strategy induced ...

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Segmented scintillation detectors with silicon photomultiplier readout for measuring antiproton annihilations

open access: yes, 2014
The Atomic Spectroscopy and Collisions Using Slow Antiprotons (ASACUSA) experiment at the Antiproton Decelerator (AD) facility of CERN constructed segmented scintillators to detect and track the charged pions which emerge from antiproton annihilations in
