Sharp focusing of light using a planar gradient microlens
It is shown numerically that using planar gradient microlenses, the coherent radiation can be focused in a narrow line of width λ/38 and length λ/5.5. The efficiency of focusing is 22%. A slitted photonic-crystal lens retains the properties of sharp focusing of light characteristic of a gradient lens.

The aqueous supramolecular chemistry of crown ethers
This mini-review summarizes the seminal exploration of aqueous supramolecular chemistry of crown ether macrocycles. In history, most research of crown ethers were focusing on their supramolecular chemistry in organic phase or in gas phase.

Magnetic resonance within vortex cores in the B phase of superfluid $^3$He
We investigate a magnetic susceptibility of vortices in the B phase of multicomponent triplet superfluid $^3$He focusing on a contribution of bound fermionic states localized within vortex cores.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Electric field strengths and ion trajectories in sharp-edge field ionization sources [PDF]
On the presumption that a sharp edge may be represented by a hyperbola, a conformal transformation method is used to derive electric field equations for a sharp edge suspended above a flat plate.

Characteristics of sharp focusing of vortex Laguerre-Gaussian beams
We investigate the intensity distribution of sharply focused Laguerre-Gaussian beams in relation to the uniform (linear and circular) polarization of the beam and the order of the vortex phase. It is shown that to the greatest extent the polarization state affects the longitudinal component of the electric vector of the light field. The greatest visual

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Beams with the transverse-only intensity at the focus
In this work, sharp focusing of vector beams with azimuthal polarization and beams with V-line of polarization uncertainty is simulated numerically using the Richards-Wolf formulas.
