Percolation‐Driven β‐Relaxation Enables Resonant Acceleration of Crystallization in Amorphous Phase‐Change Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Mobile‐atom percolation underlying β‐relaxations fundamentally dictates the crystallization pathways of phase‐change materials. High‐frequency ultrasonic excitation dynamically modulates this critical mobility percolation network, substantially accelerating the crystallization process.

Crust-mantle decoupling revealed by seismic velocity anisotropy beneath Syowa Station, Antarctica

open access: yesAntarctic Record, 1997
We analyzed shear wave splittings in the crust beneath Syowa Station, using Moho converted Ps waves. Three set of receiver functions and stacked receiver functions from Tonga events are analyzed.

A shear wave analysis system for semi-automatic measurements of shear wave splitting above volcanic earthquakes: descriptions and applications

open access: yes, 2007
Our interest is the study of the seismograms with the purpose of monitoring and modelling volcanoes. In particular, since the shear waves bring information about the anisotropic system characterizing the shallow crust, they are also sensitive to all ...

Beyond Passivation: Designing Structurally Tailored Artificial Interphases for High‐Energy Lithium‐Based Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This review outlines critical engineering design rules for building artificial protective coatings on next‐generation lithium metal and silicon battery anodes. It highlights how balancing structural flexibility with strict electronic and ionic transport limits prevents early battery failure.

Small Shear Wave Splitting Delays Suggest Weak Anisotropy in Cratonic Mantle Lithosphere

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2021
We use splitting in core‐refracted teleseismic shear waves (SKS, PKS, and similar) to investigate anisotropic properties of the upper mantle beneath the Superior craton in eastern North America and the Yilgarn craton in Western Australia.

Observations of Mantle Seismic Anisotropy Using Array Techniques: Shear‐Wave Splitting of Beamformed SmKS Phases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
: Shear‐wave splitting measurements are commonly used to resolve seismic anisotropy in both the upper and lowermost mantle. Typically, such techniques are applied to SmKS phases that have reflected (m‐1) times off the underside of the core‐mantle ...

Unlocking Terahertz Steganography: Authentication of Hidden Images in Flexible Media

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hidden information in multilayered devices, such as steganographic portraits, is detected and authenticated using reflection‐mode terahertz time‐domain imaging. Image reconstruction relies on a dedicated figure‐of‐merit obtained by integrating the signal intensity over the time‐window associated with the reflection from the metallic mirror backing the ...

Sub‐slab anisotropy beneath the Sumatra and circum‐Pacific subduction zones from source‐side shear wave splitting observations

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2014
Understanding the dynamics of subduction is critical to our overall understanding of plate tectonics and the solid Earth system. Observations of seismic anisotropy can yield constraints on deformation patterns in the mantle surrounding subducting slabs ...
