A nonlocal sinusoidal shear deformation beam theory with application to bending, buckling, and vibration of nanobeams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper presents a nonlocal sinusoidal shear deformation beam theory for the bending, buckling, and vibration of nanobeams. The present model is capable of capturing both small scale effect and transverse shear deformation effects of nanobeams, and ...

A size-dependent functionally graded sinusoidal plate model based on a modified couple stress theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A size-dependent model for bending and free vibration of functionally graded plate is developed based on the modified couple stress theory and sinusoidal shear deformation theory.

Axial-flexural coupled vibration and buckling of composite beams using sinusoidal shear deformation theory

open access: yes, 2013
A finite element model based on sinusoidal shear deformation theory is developed to study vibration and buckling analysis of composite beams with arbitrary lay-ups.

Finite element model for vibration and buckling of functionally graded sandwich beams based on a refined shear deformation theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Finite element model for vibration and buckling of functionally graded sandwich beams based on a refined shear deformation theory is presented. The core of sandwich beam is fully metal or ceramic and skins are composed of a functionally graded material ...

Artificial Intelligence in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.

Non-Destructive Damage Evaluation Based on Static Response for Beam-like Structures Considering Shear Deformation

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Shear deformation plays an important role in certain structures, and neglecting shear deformation can affect the accuracy of structural response. This paper proposes a non-destructive damage evaluation method that considers shear deformation, based on ...

An Overview of Shear Deformation Theories and Their Relationships to the Classical Theory [PDF]

open access: yesMechanical Behavior of Advanced Materials, 1998
Abstract The paper presents a review of various shear deformation theories of beams and plates and a critical evaluation of the theories from analysis points of view. In particular post-computation of stresses in composites is revisited and alternative approaches are discussed in light of Pagano’s works on the subject.

A simple shear deformation theory for nonlocal beams [PDF]

open access: yesComposite Structures, 2018
© 2017 Elsevier Ltd In this paper, a simple beam theory accounting for shear deformation effects with one unknown is proposed for static bending and free vibration analysis of isotropic nanobeams. The size-dependent behaviour is captured by using the nonlocal differential constitutive relations of Eringen.

Mineral reaction and deformation in Plagioclase-Olivine composites : an experimental study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Deformation and metamorphism of rocks are fundamentally interrelated but the ways in which processes of reaction and deformation mutually influence each other are still poorly understood in natural rocks.

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.
