Design, Modeling, and Testing of a Long-Stroke Fast Tool Servo Based on Corrugated Flexure Units [PDF]

open access: yesMicromachines
To further enhance the performance of the fast tool servo (FTS) system in terms of stroke, load capacity, and application area, this paper proposes a novel fast tool servo device driven by a voice coil motor (VCM), based on a three-segment uniform ...

Static and Flexural Fatigue Behavior of GFRP Pultruded Rebars [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials, 2021
This paper presents the experimental results of composite rebars based on GFRP manufactured by a pultrusion system. The bending and radial compression strength of rods was determined. The elastic modulus of GFRP rebars is significantly lower than for steel rebars, while the static flexural properties are higher.

Impact of adverse environmental conditions on the fatigue behavior of carbon epoxy adhesive joints under mode II fracture [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
This work analyses how environmental degradation affects the behaviour of adhesive joints in carbon-epoxy composites. These joints, made from a unidirectional carbon fibre-reinforced epoxy matrix and bonded with an epoxy-based adhesive, were tested under

Measurement uncertainty analysis of a measurement flexure hinge in a torque standard machine [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sensors and Sensor Systems, 2022
An alternative method to using strain gauges to measure FT (please see Appendix A for a list of definitions) and TM under a static multi-component load by using a hinge flexure (also called measurement flexure or MF) is presented. Its usage in the 5 MN m

A Study on High Speed Control Mechanism of Micro-Depth Using PZT Actuator [PDF]

open access: yes한국정밀공학회지, 2018
The goal of this study is to develop a fast, controllable PZT-driven depth adjustment device with a flexure hinge. The device can be used to trace rapidly a flat or curved surface with several hundreds of micrometers’ variance in height.

Multi-objective optimization of a type of ellipse-parabola shaped superelastic flexure hinge [PDF]

open access: yesMechanical Sciences, 2016
Flexure hinges made of superelastic materials is a promising candidate to enhance the movability of compliant mechanisms. In this paper, we focus on the multi-objective optimization of a type of ellipse-parabola shaped superelastic flexure hinge.

Characteristics of Statically Indeterminate Symmetric Flexure Structures

open access: yesNanomanufacturing and Metrology, 2023
AbstractStatically indeterminate symmetric (SIS) flexure structures are symmetric structures with “clamped-clamped” boundary conditions. The static indeterminacy and topological symmetry significantly attenuate the parasitic motions associated with statically determinate flexure structures.
