Advances in Electroactive Liquid Crystal Elastomers for Intelligent Robotics and Electronics
Electroactive liquid crystal elastomers (eLCEs) integrate molecular anisotropy with electrical functionality to enable programmable actuation and reconfigurable electronics. This review classifies eLCEs into robotic actuators and adaptive electronics, summarizes key actuation mechanisms, and highlights fabrication strategies that bridge materials to ...

Solid Harmonic Wavelet Bispectrum for Image Analysis
The Solid Harmonic Wavelet Bispectrum (SHWB), a rotation‐ and translation‐invariant descriptor that captures higher‐order (phase) correlations in signals, is introduced. Combining wavelet scattering, bispectral analysis, and group theory, SHWB achieves interpretable, data‐efficient representations and demonstrates competitive performance across texture,

A time‐multiplexed nanobody‐functionalized organic electrochemical transistor enables rapid and sensitive detection of three respiratory viral proteins from saliva. Sequentially addressed multi‐gate electrodes on a shared channel achieve around 1 fm detection within 15 min without sample preprocessing. Clinical validation demonstrates high specificity,

Printable Conductive Hydrogels for Electrochemical Biosensing and Soft Bioelectronic Interfaces
Flexible, conductive hydrogels that integrate printability, mechanical tunability, biocompatibility, and electronic performance remain challenging to achieve. Here, we develop 3D‐printable poly(ethylene glycol)–poly(pyrrole)‐ hydrogels with tissue‐like mechanics, high cytocompatibility, and robust electrochemical function.

Schematic showing a stretchable triboelectric nanogenerator based on interlocked wavy architectures that uses EGaIn microflower‐embedded PVDF‐TrFE and Nylon‐6 nanofiber membranes. The multi‐petaled, electron‐rich EGaIn microflowers enhance interfacial polarization and capacitance, while the interlocked wavy architecture enlarges the effective contact ...

Shear modulus of colloidal suspensions: Comparing experiments with theory
In this work, the experimentally determined shear modulus of a colloidal suspension has been compared to a calculated shear modulus based on an ordered lattice model. The experiments were performed on a well characterized calcite suspension. The calcite suspension was confirmed to be in a flocculated state, thus exhibiting strong elastic character. The

Longitudinal Shear Deformation of Composites— Effective Shear Modulus
An exact analytical solution is given for a case of longitudinal shear loading of an unidirectional fiber reinforced composite. The analysis takes into account random spacing between fibers, random variation of fiber radii, and the variation in shear modulus from fiber to fiber.

Shear Modulus of Elasticity of the Esophagus
Annals of Biomedical Engineering, 2004Experimental and diagnostic procedures like distension of a balloon catheter, bougie, and esophagogastroduodenoscopy can induce shear deformation in the esophageal wall. However, the shear modulus of the esophagus is yet unknown. The aim of this study was to determine the esophageal shear modulus and its dependence on the circumferential and ...

Shear modulus and damping of soils
Géotechnique, 1997The shear modulus (G) and damping ratio (D) of two natural clays and both siliceous and carbonatic pluvially-deposited dry sands have been measured at the authors' laboratory by means of a Resonant Column/Torsional Shear apparatus for a strain range of 0·0001% up to 1%.
