The non-monotonic shear-thinning flow of two strongly cohesive concentrated suspensions

open access: yes, 2014
The behaviour in simple shear of two concentrated and strongly cohesive mineral suspensions showing highly non-monotonic flow curves is described. Two rheometric test modes were employed, controlled stress and controlled shear-rate.

Continuous phenomenological modeling for the viscosity of shear thickening fluids

open access: yes, 2018
In general, shear thickening fluids show a marked increase in viscosity beyond a critical shear rate, which can be attributed to the hydrodynamic clustering effects, where in any external energy acting on a shear thickening fluid is dissipated quickly ...

A Versatile Engineering Platform for the Fabrication of Prosthetic Venous Valves Using Electrospinning

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Percutaneous prosthetic venous valves are fabricated by embedding stents in an electrospun matrix that extends luminally to form leaflets. The design shields leaflets from hyperplastic cells, isolates struts from blood contact, and avoids discrete anchoring points.

Simulation of conjugate free convection heat transfer of NEPCM/Al2O3-kerosene non-Newtonian hybrid nanoliquid between a double-pipe space

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
The current study addresses the assessment of heat and mass transfer of NEPCM/Al2O3- Kerosene hybrid nanofluid inside a double pipes space as a part of a heat exchanger.

Carreau fluid model for blood flow through a tapered artery with a stenosis

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal, 2014
In present article, we have studied the blood flow through tapered artery with stenosis. The non-Newtonian nature of blood in small arteries is analyzed mathematically by considering the blood as Carreau fluid.

A Synovium‐on‐Chip Platform to Study Multicellular Interactions in Arthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The Synovium‐on‐Chip comprises a thin microporous PDMS membrane to support co‐culture of fibroblast‐like synoviocytes (FLS), THP‐1‐derived macrophages, and endothelial cells, enabling real‐time analysis of synovial‐vascular interactions. FLS migration through the pores drives endothelial remodeling, while TNF‐α stimulation induces robust inflammatory ...

Fractures in complex fluids: the case of transient networks

open access: yes, 2013
We present a comprehensive review of the current state of fracture phenomena in transient networks, a wide class of viscoelastic fluids. We will first define what is a fracture in a complex fluid, and recall the main structural and rheological properties

Artificial Intelligence‐Assisted Workflow for Transmission Electron Microscopy: From Data Analysis Automation to Materials Knowledge Unveiling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
AI‐Assisted Workflow for (Scanning) Transmission Electron Microscopy: From Data Analysis Automation to Materials Knowledge Unveiling. Abstract (Scanning) transmission electron microscopy ((S)TEM) has significantly advanced materials science but faces challenges in correlating precise atomic structure information with the functional properties of ...
