Dietary Exposure to Mercury and Arsenic From Traditional Qatari Foods: Implications for Food Safety and Public Health

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
In the Qatari cuisine, seafood showed significantly elevated mercury concentrations, whereas arsenic was more evenly distributed across the different foods. Although arsenic exposure was low (HQ < 0.2), mercury posed a high risk (HQ 7.9–9.3; HI > 8), highlighting seafood as the dominant dietary source of heavy metal exposure. ABSTRACT Heavy metals have

Role of TREM1 in the sevoflurane‐induced inflammatory activation of microglia in vitro

open access: yesIbrain, EarlyView.
Perioperative neurocognitive disorders (PNDs) are one of the most common complications in perioperative patients, and neuroinflammatory reaction mediated by microglia plays a key role in their formation. Triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 1 (TREM1) is a key regulator of inflammation.

Rapid Detection of Foodborne Pathogenic Microorganisms Based on Recombinase Polymerase Amplification and Lateral Chromatography Microfluidic Chip Technology

open access: yesiLABMED, EarlyView.
This study designed a microfluidic chip integrating recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) and colloidal gold lateral chromatography for the visual detection of three high‐risk foodborne pathogens. This portable microfluidic chip‐based approach enables on‐site detection of foodborne pathogens with high specificity, reproducibility, and stability ...

Species‐level exploration of the gut microbiome in the leaf‐eating Presbytis monkeys reflected the effects of anthropogenic activity and specialized dietary niches: Conservation on the fourth biodiversity level

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
This study integrates full‐length 16S rRNA and deep metagenomic sequencing to explore species‐level gut microbial composition and function in two endangered leaf‐eating langur species—white‐headed langurs and François' langurs—across gradients of human disturbance.
