Experimental Sheep Pox A Histological and Ultrastructural Study
Research in Veterinary Science, 1973Sheep pox virus infection of the skin of susceptible sheep induced marked hyperplasia of the epithelium and proliferation of endothelial cells lining small blood vessels. When infectivity of the lesion was greatest the blood vessels developed a severe necrotising vasculitis and thrombosis with resultant necrosis of the dermis.

Counter-immunoelectrophoresis for rapid diagnosis of sheep pox
British Veterinary Journal, 1985Abstract The counter-immunoelectrophoresis technique was used to detect precipitins in the sera of sheep experimentally infected with sheep pox virus. Precipitins could be detected in the sera from five to 45 days post infection. The viral antigens were detected in the organs of infected animals within one hour of the start of the electrophoretic run.
