Nonlinear Predictive PID Control design for Ship Manoeuvering
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2009Abstract In this paper a predictive Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller is proposed for ship Manoeuvering. PID control system is still being considered as a robust and reliable design by the industry and control community. A feedback linearization along with predictive PID technique has been adopted here for ship manoeuvering control ...

Global /spl kappa/-exponential way-point manoeuvering of ships
2004 43rd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC) (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37601), 2004This paper considers way-point manoeuvering in three degrees of freedom (surge, sway and yaw). A line-of-sight motivated control law that globally /spl kappa/-exponentially stabilizes an underactuated ship is derived using output redefinition and cascaded systems theory.

Study on Ship Manoeuvering in Adverse Sea State
Volume 3A: Structures, Safety and Reliability, 2017IMO introduced Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) to regulate the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from ships. The cheapest and easiest way to fulfil the EEDI requirement is to reduce installed power for most ships. Therefore, it has raised serious concerns that some ship designers might choose to lower the installed power to achieve EEDI requirements

Navigating Between Anchored Ships and Manoeuvering Difficulty
When anchorages are arranged in a harbour, the manoeuvering difficulty of a ship navigating between anchored ships should be considered. However, until now, nobody has researched how to design the arrangement of anchorages from the viewpoint of manoeuvering difficulty.
