Targeting TNBC: core–shell polycationic polyurea dendrimers with inherent anticancer activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Core–shell polycationic PURE dendrimers were tested in TNBC‐derived tumor models. Both formulations selectively targeted TNBC and effectively reduced tumor volume. PUREG4‐OEI48 suppressed tumor growth without detectable toxicity, whereas PUREG4‐OCEI24, despite showing efficacy, induced hepatic toxicity.

FGFR Like1 drives esophageal cancer progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and notch signalling: insights from clinical data and next‐generation sequencing analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Clinical analysis reveals significant dysregulation of FGFRL1 in esophageal cancer (EC) patients. RNAi‐coupled next‐generation sequencing (NGS) and in vitro study reveal FGFRL1‐mediated EC progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and Notch pathways. Functional assays confirm its role in tumor growth, migration, and invasion.

THE EFFICACY OF TRAMADOL IN THE PREVENTION OF POST SPINAL ANAESTHESIA SHIVERING IN CAESAREAN DELIVERIES [PDF]

open access: yesKanem Journal of Medical Sciences, 2017
Background: Shivering associated with subarachnoid block in obstetric patients is a cause of discomfort in this group of patients. Tramadol, a synthetic weak opioid that acts centrally at the mu receptors has been found to be effective in the treatment ...

Perbandingan Efek Pencegahan Magnesium Sulfat dengan Petidin Intravena terhadap Kejadian Menggigil Selama Operasi Reseksi Prostat Transuretra dengan Anestesi Spinal

open access: yesJurnal Anestesi Perioperatif, 2015
Shivering, as a result of impaired thermoregulatory, is frequent during surgery under spinal anesthesia. The purpose of this study was to compare the anti-shivering effect between intravenous MgSO4 and pethidine during transurethral resection of the ...

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Alcohol‐induced altered glycans in human tracheal epithelial cells promote bacterial adhesion

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Alcohol induces altered glycans to promote bacteria adhesion. Heavy alcohol drinking is known to increase the risk of bacterial pneumonia. However, the link between alcohol levels and risk of infection remains underexplored. Recently, we found that alcohol induced α2‐6sialo mucin O‐glycans in human tracheobronchial epithelial cells, which mediated the ...

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Severe hypoglycemia reduces the shivering threshold in rabbits

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology, 2019
Background We previously reported that each 100 mg dL− 1 reduction in blood glucose over the range from ≈90 to > 300 mg dL− 1 decreases the shivering threshold (triggering core temperature) in rabbits by 1 °C.

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

The Prophylactic Administration of Intravenous Paracetamol for Control of Shivering During and After Cesarean Section Under Spinal Anesthesia

open access: yesArchives of Anesthesia and Critical Care, 2019
Background: Shivering refers to a series of repetitive involuntary movements of the skeletal muscles commonly occurring during spinal anesthesia. Regional anesthesia (both spinal and Epidural) reduces vasoconstriction and shivering threshold to 6 degrees
