Sensitive and rapid laser diagnostic for shock tube kinetics studies using cavity-enhanced absorption spectroscopy.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2014
We report the first application of cavity-enhanced absorption spectroscopy (CEAS) using a coherent light source for sensitive and rapid gaseous species time-history measurements in a shock tube.

Piezo2 Mediates a Vicious Cycle of “Mechanical Homeostasis Imbalance—Inflammation” in Sensory Nerves and the Cartilage Endplate

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In a lumbar spine instability model, dorsal root ganglion cells mediate the perception of relevant mechanical stresses through Piezo2 and subsequently release CGRP. CGRP activates the NF‐κB signaling pathway in cartilage endplate cells through the receptor RAMP1.

Temperature measurements behind reflected shock waves in air [PDF]

open access: yes
A radiometric method for the measurement of gas temperature in self-absorbing gases has been applied in the study of shock tube generated flows. This method involves making two absolute intensity measurements at identical wavelengths, but for two ...

Shocks and Thermal Conduction Fronts in Retracting Reconnected Flux Tubes

open access: yes, 2010
We present a model for plasma heating produced by time-dependent, spatially localized reconnection within a flare current sheet separating skewed magnetic fields. The reconnection creates flux tubes of new connectivity which subsequently retract at Alfv\'

Temporal and Cell‐Specific Regulation of Synaptic Homeostasis by the Chromatin Remodeler Chd1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chd1, the Drosophila homologue of mammalian CHD2 ‐ a gene linked to autism, epilepsy, and intellectual disability, is required for synaptic homeostatic plasticity. Chd1 in glia is necessary for the rapid induction of synaptic homeostasis, whereas Chd1 in motoneurons, muscle, and glia is critical for long‐term maintenance.

Rura Uderzeniowa, Pomiary i Wnioski

open access: yesEngineering Transactions, 1964
The present paper contains theoretical investigations concerning the possibility and sense of applying a shock tube to aerodynamic investigations (as a wind tunnel of very short working period), a description of the shock-tube constructed for the ...

Tables and charts of equilibrium normal shock and shock tube solutions for pure CO2 with velocities to 16 km/second [PDF]

open access: yes
Equilibrium thermodynamic and flow properties are presented in tabulated and graphical form for moving, standing, and reflected normal shock waves in pure CO2, representative of Mars and Venus atmospheres.
