A soft robotic simulator is developed to replicate the digital removal of feces (DRF), a sensitive yet essential nursing procedure. Integrating soft actuators, sensors, and a realistic rectal model, the simulator balances functional fidelity with perceptual realism. Engineering evaluations and nurse feedback confirm its potential to enhance training in

Laser-plasma induced shock waves in micro shock tubes
Shock wave generation with help of lasers or shock tubes, for example, is a common subject at macroscopic scale. On the other hand, the current tendency towards smaller scales becomes more and more important.

Entropy Balance and Dispersive Oscillations in Lattice Boltzmann Models
We conduct an investigation into the dispersive post-shock oscillations in the entropic lattice-Boltzmann method (ELBM). To this end we use a root finding algorithm to implement the ELBM which displays fast cubic convergence and guaranties the proper ...

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

CFD Modelling of Flow Characteristics in Micro Shock Tubes
The use of micro shock tubes has become common in many instruments requiring a high velocity and temperature flow field, for example in micro-propulsion systems and drug delivery devices for medical systems.
