Considerations for shoot-through FLASH proton therapy

Physics in Medicine & Biology, 2021
Abstract Purpose. To discuss several pertinent issues related to shoot-through FLASH proton therapy based on an illustrative case. Methods. We argue that with the advent of FLASH proton radiotherapy and due to the issues associated with conventional ...

Shooting Through Clothing in Firearm Suicides

Journal of Forensic Sciences, 2010
Abstract:  There is a longstanding empirical rule that people who commit suicide rarely shoot through their clothing, but rather put it aside to expose the nude skin. Signs of shots through clothing have always been considered suspicious, raising presumptions of the presence of an abettor.

Propagation of banana through encapsulated shoot tips

Plant Cell Reports, 1992
Plants were regenerated from encapsulated shoot tips of banana. Shoot tips (ca 4 mm) isolated from multiple shoot cultures of banana cv. Basrai were encapsulated in 3% sodium alginate containing different gel matrices. The encapsulated shoot tips regenerated in vitro on different substrates.

HoopInSight: Analyzing and Comparing Basketball Shooting Performance Through Visualization

IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 2023
Data visualization has the power to revolutionize sports. For example, the rise of shot maps has changed basketball strategy by visually illustrating where "good/bad" shots are taken from. As a result, professional basketball teams today take shots from very different positions on the court than they did 20 years ago.

Unusual attempted suicide by shooting through heart

Forensic Science International, 2005
Gunshot wounds in the heart are frequent suicidal injuries, especially in men. Most of them are lethal, but some cases of survival due to immediate and proper surgical treatment are reported. However, survival without specific treatment is extremely rare. In our case, a 44-year man attempted suicide by home-made shooting device.

Micropropagation of parsley through axillary shoot proliferation

Plant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture, 1996
A micropropagation protocol of parsley,Petroselinum crispum (Mill.) Nyman (curled type) has been developed. Surface-sterilized axillary buds cultured on Murashige and Skoog medium supplemented with benzyladenine, kinetin, or thidiazuron developed axillary shoots (rosettes). Kinetin resulted in only a low proliferation rate.

Kiwifruit micropropagation through callus shoot-bud induction

In Vitro Cellular & Developmental Biology - Plant, 1992
A profitable system for the establishment of morphogenic callus cultures and indirect shoot induction and development was accomplished from nodal shoot segments obtained from adult and micropropagated plants of kiwifruit (Actinidia deliciosa [Chev.] Liang and Ferguson, var.deliciosa) cv. “Hayward”.
