Development of water quality prediction model using LTSF-Linear and complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition

open access: yesDesalination and Water Treatment
South Korea's water supply system has a high coverage rate, still, it faces significant challenges in effective water quality (WQ) management due to seasonal variations in source water turbidity, frequent algal blooms, and aging water treatment ...

PANX2 Suppresses Lung Adenocarcinoma Progression by Inducing Disulfidptosis and Enhancing Antitumor Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) remains a leading cause of cancer mortality with limited therapeutic options. Disulfidptosis, a novel cell death modality driven by disulfide stress, represents a promising target, yet its regulation in LUAD is poorly defined. Here, we identify Pannexin 2 (PANX2) as a tumor suppressor in LUAD.

Coping with Climatic Variability by Rain-fed Farmers in Dry Zone, Sri Lanka: Towards Understanding Adaptation to Climate Change

open access: yes
Climate change introduces numerous uncertainties over the livelihoods of farming communities that depend heavily on weather and climate. Rain-fed farmers in developing countries are among the most vulnerable communities.

ZDHHC17‐Mediated CDK4 Palmitoylation Drives Cell Cycle Progression and Orchestrates Cancer Immune Surveillance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ZDHHC17 palmitoylates CDK4, which together with TRAF6‐mediated ubiquitination, drives cell cycle progression and immune surveillance, revealing a rational combination of CDK4 inhibitors with immune checkpoint blockers for ZDHHC17‐driven cancers. ABSTRACT Uncontrolled cell cycle progression is a hallmark of cancer, tightly regulated by both intrinsic ...

Climate change: where is the hockey stick? evidence from millennial-scale reconstructed and updated temperature time series.

open access: yes
The goal of this paper is to test on a millennial scale the magnitude of the recent warmth period, known as the “hockey-stick”, and the relevance of the causative anthropogenic climate change hypothesis advanced by several academics and worldwide ...

ABHD17C‐Mediated S‐Depalmitoylation of BCL6B Enhances CD24 Transcription to Resist Macrophage Phagocytosis in Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABHD17C‐mediated depalmitoylation of BCL6B at Cys442 blocks its nuclear import and triggers ubiquitin‐dependent degradation, attenuating transcriptional repression of the anti‐phagocytic signal CD24. This mechanism enables pancreatic cancer cells to evade macrophage phagocytosis and fosters an immunosuppressive microenvironment.

PlantGFM: A Genomic Foundation Model for Discovery and Creation of Plant Genes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A plant genomic foundation model pre‐trained on 12 species enables both accurate gene prediction and de novo gene design. Through AI‐human knowledge screening, seven designed sequences showed transcriptional activity in plants, with two expressing stable proteins—demonstrating the first DNA‐RNA‐protein expression of LLM‐generated genes in plants and ...

Valuing adaptation under rapid change [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The methods used to plan adaptation to climate change have been heavily influenced by scientific narratives of gradual change and economic narratives of marginal adjustments to that change.
