A short-term wind-hydrothermal operational framework in the presence of pumped-hydro storage

open access: yese-Prime: Advances in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Energy
Short-term operation is one of the most significant aspects of power systems operation and planning and it mainly includes resource scheduling including renewable and non-renewable energy sources.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Optimizing long-term hydrothermal scheduling with adaptive scenario fan selection and inflow prediction in the Nordic region

open access: yesEnergy and AI
Accurate hydropower scheduling is crucial in the Nordic region for integrating renewable energy and balancing supply and demand. It also plays a key role in ensuring grid stability and maintaining the European energy balance. This paper presents a hybrid

A Petri Nets-based Scheduling Methodology forMultipurpose Batch Plants.

open access: yes, 2005
This article presents an optimization methodology of batch production processes assembled by shared resources which rely on a mapping of state-events into time-events allowing in this way the straightforward use of a well consolidated scheduling policies

Adaptor protein CIN85 potentiates the motility of osteosarcoma cells via the Akt/mTOR and MMP2‐COL3A1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CIN85 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma, particularly in metastatic lesions. Its overexpression increases cell migration and Matrigel invasion, while silencing CIN85 suppresses these behaviors. Transcriptome analysis shows that CIN85 regulates MMP2, COL3A1, and Akt/mTOR signaling. Targeting these pathways reverses CIN85‐induced motility, highlighting

On convexity issues of short-term hydrothermal scheduling

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems, 2000
This paper introduces a convex and normally constrained hydrothermal scheduling method. Convexity is achieved by using a hydro water loss term and a piece-wise linear representation of the relationship between water head and volume. A basic technique is developed for obtaining normal constraints, developed for the first time in this paper, by ...

A greedy heuristic approach for the project scheduling with labour allocation problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Responding to the growing need of generating a robust project scheduling, in this article we present a greedy algorithm to generate the project baseline schedule. The robustness achieved by integrating two dimensions of the human resources flexibilities.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

A Study on Integration of Interdivisional Scheduling in Dynamically Changing Manufacturing Environment

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems, and Manufacturing, 2012
In dynamically changing manufacturing environment, it is quite difficult to optimize interdivisional scheduling which reduces total manufacturing cost of all divisions in a factory following fluctuations in demand.
