A closed-form solution for free vibration of multiple cracked Timoshenko beam and application

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics, 2017
A closed-form solution for free vibration is constructed and used for obtaining explicit frequency equation and mode shapes of  Timoshenko beams with arbitrary number of cracks.

Eddy current detection of short cracks in sheets

open access: yesNDT International, 1989
Eddy-current NDI of through-thickness cracks in plates is characterized by a number of competing length scales. In the case of a thin plate, i.e. plate thickness h ≪ skin-depth δ, there are three important length parameters: the crack length 2c, the average coil radius \( \overline r \) (or some other measure of probe size) and the intrinsic length ...

Targeting transcription factors associated with hemoglobinopathies: Lessons from successful interventions and implications for cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the transcription factors, repressive chromatin‐modifying complexes, and epigenetic mechanisms that control fetal hemoglobin repression. Notably, many regulators of γ‐globin silencing also function in transcriptional and epigenetic networks that drive cancer, highlighting opportunities to translate advances in hemoglobinopathy ...

Time-resolved acoustic microscopy of short cracks

open access: yes1993 Proceedings IEEE Ultrasonics Symposium, 1993
Time-resolved acoustic microscopy has been used to measure the 3-dimensional profile of short cracks (70-200 mm surface length). In order to establish this technique the depth of short cracks in transparent materials were determined. This allows a comparison between the acoustic and direct optical measurements.

Pharmacological chromatin remodeling enhances response to estrogen therapy in ER+ breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Estrogen therapy elicits clinical benefit in ~ 30% of patients with endocrine‐resistant estrogen receptor (ER)‐positive breast cancer. Based on findings that ER transcriptional activation underlies response to estrogen therapy, we tested the effects of epigenetic dysregulation via pharmacological inhibition of histone deacetylases (HDACi).

An analysis on overall crack-number-density of short-fatigue-cracks [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The evolution of dispersed short-fatigue-cracks is analysed based on the equilibrium of crack-number-density (CND). By separating the mean value and the stochastic fluctuation of local CND, the equilibrium equation of overall CND is derived.

THE GROWTH OF SHORT FATIGUE CRACKS

open access: yesJournal of the Society of Materials Science, Japan, 1998
The behavior of short fatigue cracks differs from that of long cracks because of greater sensitivity to the microstructure, a greater size of the plastic zone relative to crack length, and a lesser extent of crack closure. Advances have been made in the understanding of the fatigue crack growth process of short cracks, and this understanding has been ...

PANoptosis in the pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndromes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PANoptosis, a combination of three types of programmed cell death, is mediated by a large protein complex called a PANoptosome. In healthy bone marrow hematopoietic cells, PANoptosis is restricted by inhibitory signaling. In MDS, bone marrow cells become sensitive to the PANoptotic stimuli due to the aberrant inactivation of inhibitory signaling or ...

Study on the Interaction of Collinear Cracks and Wing Cracks and Cracking Behavior of Rock under Uniaxial Compression

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2018
This paper investigates the crack interaction, initiation, and propagation rules of rock-like materials containing two collinear cracks. Based on the Kachanov method, the formulations for stress intensity factors (SIFs) of two collinear cracks and two ...

Spatial biology in cancer epigenetics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatial epigenomics combines molecular profiling with tissue architecture to reveal how gene regulation is organized within intact tissues. In cancer, these technologies uncover the mechanisms driving tumor heterogeneity and microenvironmental interactions, opening new opportunities for biomarker discovery and precision medicine.
