Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Exoplanets in the Antarctic Sky. V. The Second Data Release of AST3-II/CHESPA and Newly Found Variables within the Southern Continuous Viewing Zone of TESS

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
Located at Dome A, the highest point on the Antarctic plateau, China’s Kunlun station is a premier ground-based photometric observatory. Its cold, dry, and stable atmosphere allows continuous observation for over 40 days during polar winter, ideal for ...

Minute-Cadence Observations of the LAMOST Fields with the TMTS: IV—Catalog of Cataclysmic Variables from the First 3-yr Survey

open access: yesUniverse
The Tsinghua University–Ma Huateng Telescopes for Survey (TMTS) started to monitor the LAMOST plates in 2020, leading to the discovery of numerous short-period eclipsing binaries, peculiar pulsators, flare stars, and other variable objects.

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

TESS Light Curves of Two New Magnetic Cataclysmic Variables: An Asynchronous Polar at the Period Minimum and an Eclipsing System with a Large Spin-to-orbit Ratio

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
A recent development in the study of magnetic cataclysmic variable stars (mCVs) has been the identification of asynchronously spinning mCVs with orbital periods

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Balmer decrements as a new diagnostic for period-bounce cataclysmic variable stars

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Context. Cataclysmic variable stars (CVs) evolve towards shorter orbital periods (Porb) until they reach a minimum Porb of ∼80 min. Beyond this point, the donor star becomes out of thermal equilibrium or increasingly degenerate, causing the system to ...

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

Detection of Contact Binary Candidates Observed By TESS Using the Autoencoder Neural Network

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
A contact binary may be the progenitor of a red nova that eventually produces a merger event and have a cut-off period of around 0.2 days. Therefore, a large number of contact binaries is needed to search for the progenitor of red novae and to study the ...
