Review of Evidence for the Usage of Antioxidants for Eye Aging

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Oxidative stress is one of the common factors leading to age‐related eye diseases in older adults. Factors such as high oxygen consumption, high concentration of polyunsaturated fatty acids, and cumulative exposure to high‐energy visible light in the eyes, lead to excessive generation of reactive oxygen species, hence triggering apoptosis of ocular ...

Common Core Assessments in follow‐up studies of adults born preterm—Recommendation of the Adults Born Preterm International Collaboration

open access: yesPaediatric and Perinatal Epidemiology, Volume 35, Issue 3, Page 371-387, May 2021., 2021
Abstract Background Of all newborns, 1%‐2% are born very preterm (VP; <32 weeks) or with very low birthweight (VLBW; ≤1500 g). Advances in prenatal and neonatal care have substantially improved their survival, and the first generations who have benefited from these advances are now entering middle age.

The effect of acute, moderate intensity indoor cycling on the temporal resolution of human vision system, measured by critical fusion frequency

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 8, Issue 21, November 2020., 2020
CFF thresholds from 15 volunteers were measured before, immediately after the end, and 30 min after the end of two sessions (training and rest). We observed an increased CFF immediately after training. Interestingly, this increase was maintained 30 min after the end of exercise in fovea.

Assessing the Performance of Daily Intake of a Homotaurine, Carnosine, Forskolin, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B6, and Magnesium Based Food Supplement for the Maintenance of Visual Function in Patients with Primary Open Angle Glaucoma

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmology, Volume 2020, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
Background. Glaucoma is a multifactorial optic neuropathy, which causes a continuous loss of retinal ganglion cells. Given the neurodegenerative nature of glaucoma, the necessity for neuroprotective intervention still arises, to be added alongside hypotonic therapy. Objective.
