Experimental study on granite and the determination of its true strain-rate effect

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Solids and Structures
To accurately determine the true strain-rate effect of granite in split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) tests, systematic experimental studies from quasi-static to dynamic loading on the same batch of granite samples is required.

Exploration of Saint-Venant’s Principle in inertial high strain rate testing of materials

open access: yes, 2015
Current high strain rate testing procedures of materials are limited by poor instrumentation which leads to the requirement for stringent assumptions to enable data processing and constitutive model identification.

Experimental and Numerical Analyses of the Rational Loading Waveform in SHPB Test for Rock Materials

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2018
Aiming at the determination of the rational loading waveform for rock materials, the comparative impact tests under the loadings of rectangular and half-sine stress waves were performed on red sandstone using an Ø50 mm SHPB apparatus.

High Strain Rate Response of Adhesively Bonded Fiber-Reinforced Composite Joints A Computational Study to Guide Experimental Design [PDF]

open access: yes
Adhesively bonded carbon fiber-reinforced epoxy composite laminates are widely used in aerospace applications. During a high energy impact event, these laminates are often subjected to high strain rate loading.

Modelling split-Hopkinson pressure bar tests on quartz sand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
FE modelling of a confined split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) test on dry quartz sand was carried out using LS-DYNA in order to assess whether Material Model 5 could replicate experimental results, which would enable a more detailed investigation of ...

Numerično modeliranje in validacija shpb preizkuševališča

open access: yes, 2017

NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF SHPB DYNAMIC COMPRESSION TEST OF CONCRETE

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2018
Split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB) tests are widely used for testing material mechanism behavior under high strain rates,A series of SHPB numerical tests were done based on K&C local concrete damage model,The stress-strain curves of the concrete specimens were reconstructed with the two-wave theory, and the damage of the concrete was analyzed.According ...

Konstruiranje, gradnja in umerjanje SHPB preizkuševališča

open access: yes, 2015
Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar test allows us to determine mechanical characteristic of materials, at strain rates ranging from 10^2to 8 x 10^3 s-1. Metalic material can whitstand much higher loads at such high strain rates, but they can whitstand it for a shorter period of time.
