Mechanical Characterization of Compact Basalt by Using SHPB Device [PDF]
In the present work, dynamic stress-strain response of compact basalt is tested under high loading rates using 38 mm split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) device. The physical and static mechanical properties of compact basalt, e.g., density, specific gravity, static compressive strength and elastic modulus values are also determined.

Stress analysis of crack characteristic of anthracite under dynamic loading
In this article, the dynamic compression test of anthracite under five strain rates is carried out, the evolution law of three kinds of crack characteristic stress is analyzed, and a prediction model of the crack characteristic stress threshold considering the strain rate effect is established. Then, the rationality of crack characteristic stress under

An Experimental Investigation into Wear Resistance of Mg-SiC Nanocomposite Produced at High Rate of Compaction [PDF]
The Mg-SiC nanocomposite specimens were produced at low strain rate of 8×10−3s−1 using a universal INSTRON testing machine, strain rate of about 8×102s−1 using a drop hammer and at strain rate of about 1.6×103s−1 employing a Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (

On the Damage Tolerance of Diffusion Bonded Titanium–Aluminum Phase Biomimetic Composites
ABSTRACT The biomimetic design principles of natural structures involve the strategic integration of stiff and compliant phases to synergistically enhance strength and toughness. Its evolutionary refined natural armor, characterized by a specialized microarchitecture, enables superior damage tolerance.
