Evaluating the Benefits of Bayesian Hierarchical Methods for Analyzing Heterogeneous Environmental Datasets: A Case Study of Marine Organic Carbon Fluxes

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2021
Large compilations of heterogeneous environmental observations are increasingly available as public databases, allowing researchers to test hypotheses across datasets.

An Investigation on Mechanical Properties and Bonding Strength of Polymer Concretes and Polymer Modified Concretes as Repair Overlays on Concrete Substrate [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Structural and Construction Engineering, 2020
Selection, design and control of materials are very important for achievement of a compatible, durable and economical repair overlay. Suitable bonding of repair overlay to substrate and good resistance against fracture are basics for a durable overlay ...

The properties of the cement screeds with the addition of polypropylene fibres and the shrinkage-reducing admixture [PDF]

open access: yesGrađevinski Materijali i Konstrukcije, 2016
The paper points out the problems of damage that can occur during the preparation and exploitation of a cement screed. There were described the types and properties and presented test results obtained on the samples of cement composites prepared with the

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Sequential Shrinkage Estimation

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 1987
Let \(X_ 1,X_ 2,\ldots\) \((p\times 1)\) be i.i.d. \(N(\theta,\sigma^2V)\), with \(\theta\), \(\sigma\) unknown and \(V\) a known \(p\times p\) positive definite matrix. If it is decided to stop at stage \(n\) and \(\theta\) is estimated by \(\delta_ n=\delta_ n(X_ 1,\ldots,X_ n)\), then the loss will be \(L(\theta,\delta_ n)'Q(\delta_ n-\theta)+cn ...

Mechanical Properties, Shrinkage Behavior and Water Absorption of PA6/PP/CaCO3 Nanocomposites [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و تکنولوژی پلیمر, 2013
Nanocomposites based on polyamide 6/polypropylene  )PA6/PP 67/33) blend containing 2.5 to 10 phr of nano-CaCO3  and 5 phr of maleated polypropylene )PP-g-MAH) as compatibilizer were prepared by melt compounding followed by injection molding.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Shrinkage and porosity in concretes produced with recycled concrete aggregate and rice husk ash

open access: yesRevista IBRACON de Estruturas e Materiais, 2019
The admixture of recycled concrete aggregates (RCA) in new concretes is an interesting alternative in the efforts to mitigate environmental impacts. RCA may increase porosity and change properties of concretes.

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.
