Application of shunt active power filters in active distribution networks
2022 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies Conference Europe (ISGT-Europe), 2022Constant increase of electricity demand and integrated renewable energy sources in the grid results in harmonic distortions which can impair power quality (PQ). This paper proposes a methodology for the selection of shunt active power filters as a possible solution to these problems and suggests a way to determine the reference current of the filter ...

Direct power control of shunt active filter
2007 European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications, 2007This paper presents a new control method entitled direct power control (DPC) for shunt active power filtering, which is applied to eliminate line current harmonics and compensate reactive power. Its main goal is to rebuild active and reactive powers to be compared to references values using hysteresis control.

Adaptive Compensation of Reactive Power with Shunt Active Power Filters
Conference Record of the 2006 IEEE Industry Applications Conference Forty-First IAS Annual Meeting, 2006This paper describes an adaptive method for compensating the reactive power with an active power filter (APF), which is initially rated for mitigation of only the harmonic currents given by a nonlinear industrial load. It is proven that, if the harmonic currents do not load the APF at the rated power, the available power can be used to provide a part ...

Compensation Characteristics of Shunt Active and Series Active Power Filters.
IEEJ Transactions on Industry Applications, 1993AbstractActive power filters have been used in practice to suppress the harmonic interference in power systems. To compensate for harmonic currents of loads, active power filters usually are connected to power systems in parallel with the loads.

Design of an asymmetric multilevel shunt active power filter
2015 IEEE 24th International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE), 2015Design criteria are addressed to select the parameters of an asymmetric multilevel shunt active power filter based on a Cascaded H-Bridge topology. The proposed approach is meant to simultaneously compensate both fundamental reactive power and current harmonics.

Shunt active power filter with ADMC330
Proceedings IPEMC 2000. Third International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference (IEEE Cat. No.00EX435), 2002In this paper, we describe a scheme for the shunt active power filter with ADMC330 (single chip DSP microcontroller) which was developed successfully. The results of experiment indicate that harmonic currents in three-phase three-wire system could be compensated successfully.

A predictive deadbeat control in shunt active power filter
2011 International Conference on Wireless Communications and Signal Processing (WCSP), 2011Successive improvement of microprocessor performance makes the deadbeat control applied more widely in active power filter. However, the deadbeat control is susceptible to the noise when it is used to deal with the instantaneous current sampling data. This paper proposed a predictive deadbeat control method based on coherent average.
