Precision and accuracy of the subjective haptic vertical in the roll plane

open access: yesBMC Neuroscience, 2010
Background When roll-tilted, the subjective visual vertical (SVV) deviates up to 40° from earth-vertical and trial-to-trial variability increases with head roll.

Characterization of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Salmonella isolates in a children's hospital in Ankara--first report of SHV-2a and SHV-9 in Salmonella spp. from Turkey

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Pediatrics, 2009
The rate of in vitro resistance to various antimicrobials in 179 consecutive isolates of Salmonella spp., which included serogroups D (109), B (52), C1 (10) and C2 (8) isolated from children, was investigated.

Melt inclusion bubbles provide new insights into crystallisation depths and CO2 systematics at Soufrière Hills Volcano, Montserrat

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
Improved understanding of the magmatic system of Soufrière Hills Volcano, Montserrat (SHV) is needed to inform future hazard management strategy, and remaining uncertainties include the depth of magma storage and the source of ongoing gas emissions ...

DETECTION OF TEM & SHV GENES IN EXTENDED SPECTRUM BETA LACTAMASE (ESBL) PRODUCING E.COLI & KLEBSIELLA PNEUMONIAE ISOLATED FROM A TERTIARY CARE CANCER HOSPITAL

open access: yesNational Journal of Medical Research, 2014
Introduction: Extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) are rapidly evolving group of beta-lactamase enzymes commonly produced by the Gram negative bacteria, these enzymes have been derived from TEM and SHV genes by mutations.

SHV-type extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) are encoded in related plasmids from enterobacteria clinical isolates from Mexico beta-Lactamasas de espectro extendido (BLEE) tipo SHV están codificadas en plásmidos relacionados en aislamientos clínicos de enterobacterias en México

open access: yesSalud Pública de México, 2007
OBJECTIVE: In this work we report the molecular characterization of beta-lactam antibiotics resistance conferred by genes contained in plasmids from enterobacteria producing extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBL).

The evolution of conventions under incomplete information [PDF]

open access: yes
We formulate an evolutionary learning process in the spirit of Young (1993a) for games of incomplete information. The process involves trembles. For many games, if the amount of trembling is small, play will be in accordance with the games' (semi- strict)

Bacterial Isolates From Orthopedic Posttraumatic Surgical Infections in Northern Ghana: ESβL Detection and Analysis of Antimicrobial Resistance Trends

open access: yesInternational Journal of Microbiology
Conclusion: Gram-negative bacteria, particularly Pseudomonas aeruginosa, were the dominant isolates from surgical sites after trauma orthopedic surgery. Among the Gram-positives, Staphylococcus aureus was dominant.

Transition mutation bias is crucial to adaptive extended spectrum beta lactamase (ESBL) resistance evolution

open access: yesScientific African
The importance of slow accumulation of mutation in the nucleic acids of bacteria and the possibility of organismal transcriptional modification to suit their adaptation are key drivers favouring natural selection and subsequently adaptive evolution. This
